Our team-based approach to problem solving is the foundation of our continued success.Position SummaryThe Commercial HVAC Service Technician performs preventive maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair, equipment start-up, commissioning, and periodic installation on commercial and industrial HVAC and mechanical systems throughout Ohio. This role demands strong technical competence, professionalism, and the ability to communicate effectively with service coordinators, customers, and management.Standard schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, with consistent overtime opportunities. Technicians receive a company vehicle, uniforms, specialty tools, tablet, and ongoing training.Core ResponsibilitiesPreventive Maintenance & InspectionsPerform scheduled PM on commercial and industrial HVAC equipment — RTUs, AHUs, chillers, boilers, heat pumps, VAV systems, and hydronic systems — per manufacturer specs and industry standardsConduct belt adjustments, lubrication, filter replacement, coil cleaning, and equipment servicing; utilize Discovery Sound Technologies (DST) for predictive maintenanceDocument equipment condition, deficiencies, and recommendations via MOAC's Xoi and NetSuite ERP platforms using voice, photo, and video capture w/ OCR data-plate captureDiagnostics, Troubleshooting & RepairDiagnose mechanical, electrical, and controls failures using systematic troubleshooting; perform repairs including compressor, motor, controls, refrigeration component, and heat exchanger replacementInterpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment submittals; verify system performance within design parameters after all repairsIdentify and recommend additional services and equipment upgrades to benefit the customerEquipment Start-Up & CommissioningPerform factory start-up and commissioning per manufacturer requirements; verify refrigerant charge, airflow, water flow, electrical connections, and controls operationComplete start-up documentation and submit required reports to the Service Coordinator in a timely mannerDocumentation, Compliance & SafetySubmit accurate work order documentation via Xoi and NetSuite; maintain EPA Section 608 refrigerant compliance using ReFit tracking systemAdhere to all OSHA, MOAC driving, and site safety policies; apply PPE, LOTO procedures, and electrical safety protocols at all timesReport safety incidents, near-misses, or hazards immediately to the Service Manager; maintain a clean, organized truck and job siteCompensation & BenefitsMOAC offers a robust, top-of-market compensation and benefits package:$48.00 – $56.00/hour $4,000.00 signing bonus 401(k) with 100% employer match up to 6%Health, dental, and vision insurance HSA or FSA first-cost medical benefit card PTOTake-home company vehicle fuel card uniforms specialty tools personal tool replacementCell phone stipend company tablet with data plan variable pay for sales and hire referralsRequired QualificationsEducation & ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational degree or apprenticeship completion preferred5 to 12 years of experience as a commercial HVAC service technician, or equivalent combination of apprenticeship and technician experienceDemonstrated experience servicing rooftop units, air handling units, chillers, boilers, fan coils, and/or hydronic systems in commercial or industrial environmentsLicenses & CertificationsEPA Section 608 Universal Certification requiredValid Ohio driver's license with clean driving record requiredOSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 preferredNATE certification preferred; Ohio HVAC or refrigeration journeyman license preferredBoiler operator or gas installer certification a plusTechnical SkillsProficient in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting; ability to read wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and engineering specificationsWorking knowledge of refrigerant recovery, charging, and leak detectionFamiliarity with commercial building automation and controls (DDC/BAS) preferredProficient with digital work order systems, tablets, and field service mobile applications; working knowledge of Microsoft OfficePhysical & Other RequirementsAbility to work in diverse field conditions (rooftops, equipment rooms, confined spaces, all weather); climb, crawl, stoop, kneel; lift up to 75 lbsStrong communication and customer service skills; ability to work independently; flexibility for overtime and/or weekendsMust pass pre-employment background check and drug screeningPreferred QualificationsExperience with major commercial HVAC manufacturers' equipment; chilled/hot water hydronic systems; VRF/VRV multi-zone systemsActive NATE certification: Commercial A/C, Commercial Refrigeration, or HVAC Efficiency AnalystExperience with service dispatch and field service management software Bilingual a plusTraining & DevelopmentMOAC supports technician growth through manufacturer factory training, vendor and in-house continuing education, online resources, on-the-job mentoring, and NATE certification support.NOTE: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
