Grounds Maintenance workers perform maintenance tasks using common tools and operating mowing equipment in various environments such as commercial buildings, public parks and streets, and residential properties.Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:Operates walk behind and riding mowersOperates hand held motorized equipment such as string trimmersPerforms custodial tasks in cleaning outdoor facilities restrooms; picnic sheltersWorks in snow removal operations as assignedPrunes and installs landscape plants and treesPerforms landscape maintenance such as weeding, pruning, mulching, etc.Uses hand tools such as rakes, shovels, hoes, bush axes and other ground maintenance toolsAssists in the maintenance of athletic fields, turf areas, landscaped beds, and other grounds areasLoads and unloads material such as gravel, dirt, mulch, chemicals, tools, equipment and other materialsPerforms litter collectionPerforms leaf collection activities operating a variety of equipmentFollows all safety precautionsCommunicates effectively and courteously with customers, peers and othersActively participates in team activities such as problem solving and planningRequirements:Experience operating necessary equipment or ability to learn quicklyComfortable working in various types of weatherDepending on assignment, flagger certification, tree service, and other types of training may be requiredBenefits of working for ESS:Positions starting immediatelyLong term assignmentsPotential for permanent hire and benefitsFull support for career growth from the ESS Team
