To learn how to apply for a faculty or staff position, please review this tip sheet.The University of Miami's College of Arts and Sciences Department of Biology has an exciting opportunity for a temporary full time Research Assistant 2 to work in Coral Gables, FL.The Research Assistant 2 assists with and explores innovations to research and strives to improve implementation and family outcomes. The Research Assistant 2 ensures compliance with University policies, rules, and regulations to meet federal, state, and local standards pertaining to safety and ethics.Core Responsibilities:Plans and implements research experiments, according to research protocols, to assure high-quality scientific results in support of applicable project goals.Assists with assessing the feasibility of implementing innovations.Assesses data trends and develops reports and presentations.Supports the initiation of new research by reviewing and synthesizing literature.Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment.Assists in the preparation of scientific papers, reports, and manuscripts.Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.Department Specific FunctionsFamiliarity with methods for surveying reptiles and amphibians is desired.Willingness to work outdoors in the South Florida summer (hot and humid conditions) is required.Background knowledge of wildlife studies, including birds, fish, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians will be given additional consideration so that contributions can be made to designing future projects.This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary.Core Qualifications:High School DiplomaMinimum 2 years of relevant experience requiredLearning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.The University of Miami is recognized as one of the nation’s premier research institutions and academic health systems and is among the largest employers in South Florida.With more than 20,000 faculty and staff, the University is committed to excellence and guided by a mission to positively impact the lives of students, patients, and communities locally and globally.We are dedicated to fostering a culture where every individual feels valued and empowered to contribute meaningfully.
