This position requires regular travel for project support across the region.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR The Construction Coordinator is responsible for supporting the safety, planning, scheduling, and day-to-day coordination of outside plant (OSP) telecommunications construction projects. This role serves as a critical communication link between field crews, project managers, contractors, permitting agencies, and customers. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, tech-savvy professional who thrives in a fast-paced, field-driven environment and is comfortable working both in the office and traveling to active job sites across the service territory.
Project Coordination & Scheduling Coordinate daily construction activities – assign work orders, track job progress, and communicate status updates to project managers
Maintain and update project schedules using project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or similar)
Monitor contractor and crew productivity to ensure on-time project delivery within budget
Identify and escalate scheduling conflicts, resource shortfalls, or scope changes promptly
Field & Site Support Conduct regular site visits to verify construction quality, safety compliance, and adherence to design specifications
Coordinate utility locates, right-of-way access, and easement requirements with landowners and agencies
Support permitting processes – prepare permit applications, track approval status, and maintain compliance documentation
Interface with local municipalities, DOTD/DOT, railroad authorities, and other permitting bodies
Communication & Stakeholder Management Serve as the primary point of contact for contractors, subcontractors, and field crews during active construction phases
Communicate project status, delays, and milestones to internal teams and external customers in a clear and professional manner
Facilitate pre-construction meetings, daily standups, and post-construction closeout reviews
Prepare and distribute meeting notes, status reports, and project updates to all stakeholders
Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate and organized project files – as-builts, permits, work orders, inspection reports, and change orders
Track and report key project metrics – footage installed, costs-to-date, completion percentages, and resource utilization
Enter and manage data in GIS systems, construction management platforms, and company databases
Ensure all closeout documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted on time
Safety & Compliance Verify contractor compliance with OSHA, company safety policies, and applicable local regulations
Participate in safety briefings and incident reviews; report unsafe conditions or near-misses immediately
Support job site safety audits and ensure corrective actions are tracked and resolved
WHAT WILL HELP YOU STAND OUT Education Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field preferred
Equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered
Experience 2+ years of experience in outside plant (OSP) telecommunications construction, utilities, or civil construction coordination
Familiarity with OSP infrastructure – fiber optic cable, conduit, aerial and buried plant, splice closures, and pedestals
Experience working with contractors and managing field operations preferred
Technical Skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams — required
Experience with project scheduling tools – Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Vitruvi, or equivalent
Working knowledge of GIS platforms – ESRI ArcGIS, Google Earth Pro, or similar
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, OSP design maps, and construction specifications
Familiarity with permitting portals and compliance tracking systems a plus
Communication & Soft Skills Exceptional verbal and written communication skills – able to convey technical information clearly to both field crews and executive stakeholders
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment
Collaborative team player who can also work independently with minimal supervision
Customer-focused attitude with a professional and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving
Ability to remain composed and adaptable under pressure or when project conditions change rapidly

This position may require extended overnight travel (4+ consecutive weeks) up to 100% of the time.
A valid Driver's License is required of this role due to using company vehicles for transporting equipment and personnel.
