Serve as a role model to promote a positive work environment and quality patient care. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups.STRATEGIC INITIATIVE - Active participation in nursing strategic initiatives such as quality improvement and monitoring, TJC compliance, Magnet Recognition, recruitment and retention of staff and patient and employee satisfactionINDEPENDENT JUDGMENT - Using independent judgment assign nursing personnel and staff to specific patientsASSIGNMENT - Designate shift and schedule assignments; assign duties in accordance with the plan of care, patient needs, and within the scope of staff qualifications and licensure/certification/registryACCOUNTABILITY - Supervise and direct staff providing patient care; accountable for care provided to patients on assigned shiftLIAISON - Act as liaison as necessary between physicians, staff, patients, families, and other departments to promote and facilitate communication, problem solving, decision-making, crisis intervention, resource utilization, and conflict managementSUPERVISION - Develop efficient organizational structure. DELEGATION - Delegate and monitor completion of duties according to departmental and Hospitals policiesPATIENT CARE - Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients as requiredPOLICIES - Work within Hospitals, Nursing division and departmental policiesCARE PLAN - Work in collaboration with the healthcare team, implement and document individualized care plans incorporating age specific considerations, including discharge planning and patient/family teachingupon successful completion of preceptor training assume precepting and evaluation responsibilities of new personnelEMERGENCY MEASURES - Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in patientsMEDICAL RECORDS - Ensure that patient medical records contain necessary informationINQUIRIES - Answer telephones and triage calls as per departmental policydocument and communicate clinical findingsPATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocolsPATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processesPATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue riskPATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely mannerPATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"PATIENT CARE - Ensure patient care is delivered in accordance with quality standards; ensure documentation of patient care activitiesensure implementation of and compliance with standards, objectives, and operating policies and procedures; demonstrate the UNMH Standards of PerformanceProgram GraduateBachelor's DegreeNationally Accredited Nursing GraduateNursingBilingual English/Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or NavajoRN in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NM* CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 daysChemicals, Bio Hazardous Materials req PPE* Subject to an annual contract and performance appraisal* Tuberculosis testing is completed upon hire and additionally as requiredRegistered Nurse
