Legal Secretary/Paralegal

Job OverviewWe are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Civil Litigation Paralegal / Legal Secretary to support our attorneys in all phases of litigation. his position combines traditional legal secretarial responsibilities (calendaring, scheduling, filings) with substantive paralegal work, including discovery, discovery responses, and drafting basic motions for attorney review. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and experienced in Califonnia civil litigation procedures.Key ResponsibilitiesCalendaring, scheduling, and court coordinationMaintain accurate attorney calendars, including court hearings, deadlines, discovery cutoffs, and trial datesCalculate and calendar litigation deadlines in accordance with applicable rulesCoordinate and schedule hearings, depositions, mediations, and client meetingsCommunicate with courts, opposing counsel, court reporters, and clients regarding schedulingPrepare and file documents with state and federal courts (including e-filing)Litigation and Drafting SupportDraft discovery requests, discovery responses, and meet-and-confer correspondence for attorney reviewAssist with document collection, organization, and productionDraft basic motions, notices, declarations, and pleadings under attorney supervisionPrepare deposition and hearing binders and exhibitsAssist attorneys with trial preparation as neededAdministrative and Office SupportManage case files and maintain organized litigation recordsHandle correspondence, service of documents, and proof of service preparationMonitor incoming mail, court notices, and deadlinesProvide general administrative support to attorneys as neededQualificationsMinimum 3–5 years of experience as a civil litigation paralegal and/or legal secretary in CaliforniaStrong working knowledge of California civil litigation procedures and court rulesExperience with calendaring litigation deadlines and court schedulingAbility to draft discovery, discovery responses, and basic motions with minimal supervisionProficiency with legal calendaring systems, word processing, and e-filing platformsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environmentParalegal certificate preferred but not required based on experienceWork EnvironmentThis role is best suited for someone who enjoys working in a small firm environment, is comfortable wearing multiple hats, and values accuracy, reliability, and professionalism.
