Summary – The Eligibility Coordinator is an entry level position and will provide customer service, determine, maintain and terminate member and/or dependent eligibility for health care benefits. This is a collective bargaining union position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities included but not limited to
Know the plan rules for eligibility as outlined in the Summary Plan Description (SPD) for each fund.
Collect completed enrollment forms and add all members and their eligible dependents to the BeneSys computer system and any/all outside carrier systems; send requests for additional documentation on incomplete enrollment forms and/or denial with rights to appeal.
Audit vendor reports and invoices on a monthly or weekly basis.
Determine qualifying events and notify member/dependent of COBRA rights.
Prepares and mails eligibility correspondence including but not limited to enrollment forms, enrollment packages and self-payment notices.
Scan and index documents into document storage system.
Provides exceptional customer service via phone and email to internal and external customers.
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
Qualifications
Prior experience in a clerical and customer service, preferred but not required
Post High School education or prior related work experience preferred
Excellent customer service and phone skills
Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
Ability to read and interpret eligibility plan rules, department rules and procedures manual and COBRA compliance manual
Ability to speak clearly and effectively in order to explain eligibility requirements to members, dependents, providers and union officials
Ability to multi-task
Work Environment - Fast paced department. Phone calls are continuous and often unpleasant. Must be able to maintain composure with difficult caller. Most work is done independently. Must be able to multi-task. Must be detailed oriented.
Work Schedule - Full-time. Monday - Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm. Required in office (no at-home days).

Pay
The current starting rate for this position is $21.68 per hour. This is a union position. The wage rate for this position is determined by the collective bargaining agreement and may be dependent on experience, skills, education and other business factors.
