Our customer, a leading intellectual property law firm with a global client base, is seeking a highly organized and proactive Business Development and Marketing Specialist to support the firm's continued growth. This role plays an important part in strengthening client relationships, supporting revenue-generating initiatives, and enhancing the firm's overall market presence.

Job Description
This position sits at the intersection of business development, marketing, and attorney leadership. You will help drive long-term growth by supporting pitches and proposals, conducting market research, managing CRM data, coordinating events, and assisting with broader visibility efforts. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with confidence.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development and Market Research
Support new client acquisition efforts by identifying target organizations, industries, and potential opportunities. Conduct market and competitor research to help leadership make informed decisions and strengthen the firm's growth strategy. Assist in maintaining and nurturing relationships with clients and strategic partners. Track and analyze performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of business development initiatives.
Proposals, Pitches, and RFPs
Coordinate the preparation of proposals, RFP responses, and pitch materials in collaboration with partners and business development leadership. Track opportunities from initial intake through final outcome, including reporting on wins and losses. Customize presentation materials to align with specific client needs. Maintain a comprehensive calendar of business development deadlines to ensure timely and organized execution.
CRM and Pipeline Management
Maintain accurate and up-to-date contact and opportunity records within the firm's CRM system. Segment contacts to support targeted outreach efforts tied to events, sponsorships, and campaigns. Generate reports and provide insights that support pipeline visibility and leadership decision-making.
Marketing and Visibility Support
Collaborate with attorneys and marketing colleagues to enhance the firm's visibility through sponsorships, speaking engagements, public relations efforts, and social media initiatives. Research opportunities that elevate partner profiles and maximize marketing investments. Assist with thought leadership initiatives, including client communications and content management across digital platforms. Support the daily monitoring and sharing of relevant industry news.
Events and Client Engagement
Assist with the planning and execution of client events and speaking engagements. Review attendee lists, prepare tailored engagement materials, and support post-event follow-up. Track outcomes and related activity within the CRM system.
Operations and Collaboration
Help develop and refine business development processes to improve efficiency and collaboration across teams. Document procedures and maintain organized systems that support consistent execution. Manage firm resources responsibly and maintain confidentiality at all times. Contribute to additional marketing and business development projects as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience required.
Three to five years of experience in marketing, business development, or project management, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
Ability to work in the New York City office three days per week.
Experience supporting RFPs, pitch materials, and proposal processes.
Familiarity with CRM systems such as InterAction, Nexl, Salesforce, or similar platforms.
Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
Exceptional attention to detail, including proofreading and fact-checking abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
Preferred Experience
Experience with digital content management.
Comfort working with senior leadership and C-suite stakeholders.
Experience supporting pitch decks, RFPs, and business development processes.
