Moreover, they must embody the core belief that every action we take is driven by a commitment to the best interests of our students.JOB DESCRIPTIONPosition Title: Custodial Services Day PorterSalary Schedule: CLSJDepartment: SchoolJob Code: 445706Reports To: PrincipalWork Schedule: Annual/8 hr.Grade/Level: A-1HFLSA: Non-ExemptPrimary Function: Maintains buildings and adjacent grounds in a clean, orderly, and secure condition.Working Conditions:Physical Demands:Indoor and outdoor work environmentDexterity of hands and fingers to operate specialized equipmentDriving a vehicle to conduct workAbility to sit or stand for extended periods of timeRegular exposure to fumes, dust and odorsAbility to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, feel, talk, hear, crawl, and to read a variety of printed and coded materialsSeasonal heat and cold or adverse weather conditionsAbility to work indoors and outdoors during all types of weather including hot, cold, rainy, humid, and dry conditionsAbility to lift and transport up to 40 pounds over short distances and short periods of timeDexterity of hands and fingers to operate specialized equipmentQualifications:Minimum of high school diploma or GEDGood oral and written communication skillsThe Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.Essential Functions:1.Maintains all equipment and tools necessary to perform the responsibilities of the position2.Inspect equipment for safe and efficient operation3.Maintain proper records of preventive maintenance schedule4.Initiates and completes assigned projects in a timely manner5.Work without constant supervision6.Promotes good relations and displays a positive image with parents, students, and staff7.Assist with completion of trade and non-trade specific maintenance tasks8.Perform routine custodial activities individually or as a part of a crew at an assigned facility9.Sweep, scrub, mop, strip, wax and polish floors10.Vacuum rugs and carpets in classrooms, offices, workshops, and other work areas11.Spot clean and shampoo carpets12.Clean classrooms, cafeterias, lounges, offices, facilities, and adjacent grounds as assigned13.Empty waste receptacles14.Remove gum and graffiti as needed15.Clean and disinfect drinking fountains and restroom facilities including sinks, toilets, and urinals16.Fill dispensers with towels, soap, toilet paper and other items17.Clean mirrors, tile and windows18.Unclog drains and toilets19.Pick up paper and other debris from school grounds, walkways, and areas adjacent to school facilities20.Sweep concrete surfaces adjacent to school building21.Perform various light maintenance activities including replacing light bulbs and tubes, replacing air filters, cleaning chalkboards and erasers, and emptying pencil sharpeners22.Clean tables, chairs and floors after breakfast, lunch and all periods as assigned23.Lock and unlock doors and gates and set alarms as appropriate24.Maintain security of assigned areas according to established guidelines25.Operate custodial equipment such as vacuums, mops, strippers, steam cleaners, small hand and power tools, buffer/scrubber machines and other equipment as assigned26.Move and arrange furniture and equipment for meetings and special events; prepare classrooms and multi-purpose rooms for special events or meetings; clean up furniture, equipment and debris following these events27.Perform a variety of routine general maintenance and repairs on equipment and furniture as assigned28.Monitor inventory levels of custodial supplies and equipment as directed, communicating the need for supplies and equipment to supervisor29.Reports immediately any issues that may have an impact to school or employee safety to the appropriate administrator30.Perform other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designee.Applicants will be selected for interview.
