Systems Design Engineer III
Holtec International and its subsidiary companies are designing an unfailingly safe and secure source of clean energy using nuclear fission, called the SMR-300 small modular reactor. The position is offered by SMR LLC as a member of the Holtec International family, a global turnkey supplier of equipment and systems for the nuclear, solar, geothermal, and fossil power generation sectors of the energy industry.Come join a growing multidisciplinary team of designers and engineers designing the next-generation nuclear power plant. Holtec International is seeking applicants for the role of Systems Engineer. The Systems Engineer is responsible for the design of a variety of components and systems for the SMR-300 power plant. This role requires frequent interfacing with other engineering disciplines and licensing groups as well as capable management of system integration activities, such as requirements development, component specification development, and calculations. The Engineer will be part of a team executing a U.S. Government cost-shared development program requiring efficient completion of engineering assignments.Location(s): Camden, NJ or North Pittsburgh, PAPrimary ResponsibilitiesLeads system-level design and integration efforts with accountability for technical performance within assigned domainsDrives interface resolution, verification planning, and technical decision-making with limited oversightRecognized as a technical authority within a subsystem or specialty areaImpact directly influences system performance, licensing readiness, and program risk postureRequirementsBS in an engineering disciplineMinimum 6 years of post-graduation engineering experienceDemonstrated experience leading system-level design efforts and coordinating cross-functional teamsIn-depth knowledge of heat transfer and fluid dynamics fundamentalsExcellent technical writing, interpersonal, and effective communication skillsFluency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and ExcelPreferred QualificationsMasters degree in Mechanical or other engineering disciplineExperience working with engineers and manufacturers to develop designs and drawingsExperience working in the nuclear energy field in a design capacityExperience with Smart Plant, MathCad, AutoCAD, Pipe-Flo, Engineering Life-cycle Management (ELM), requirements management software (e.g. DOORS-NG), and HTRI softwareExperience researching and developing requirementsExperience in developing and/or reviewing technical and procurement specificationsEIT and/or PE certificationA Generation Ahead by Design™Investing in people who power the future.CompensationWe believe great work deserves great rewards.
