Job Posting Title3rd Utility - MachiningJob Description SummaryInteract with Crew Supervisors, Module Team Leaders, Reactive Maintenance, and Manufacturing Associates to assess requirements, develop plans, and provide needed materials, minor machine adjustments, minor maintenance, supplying consumables, performing set-ups, change-overs and providing training to all area associates. The Utility Specialist is responsible for installing, setting up, troubleshooting, and maintaining automated production lines. This role supports high-volume manufacturing using CNC machining systems, robotic automation, and specialized equipment including FANUC robots, Alfing machining systems, SW, and Stama machines. Provide direction for the purpose of assisting employees to safely operate equipment and to make product that meets the Customer’s expectations at levels of quality and productivity that meets or exceeds the established plan.Job DescriptionREPORTS TODirectly to the assigned directly to the Module Team Leader and indirectly to the Module SupervisorResponsibilitiesAssist the Team Leader to coordinate and provide directions to manufacturing associates on how to do their assign task(s). This includes hands on trainingEnsure that the assigned area(s) equipment is operating properly and safely throughout the shiftAssist Team Leader in achieving daily quality, production, scrap goalsAssist the Team Leader in assigning and rotating Manufacturing Associates to the appropriate operation and provide relief to employees as requiredSet up, adjust, and optimize automated production lines for automotive componentsProgram, teach, and troubleshoot FANUC robotics systems (material handling, loading/unloading, etc.)Perform setup and changeovers on Alfing machining equipmentOperate and maintain SW and Stama multi-spindle / CNC machining centersInterpret blueprints, process sheets, and tooling specificationsInstall and align tooling, fixtures, and work holding devicesConduct first-piece validation and ensure parts meet quality standardsTroubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and automation issues to minimize downtimePerform preventive maintenance on machines and robotic systemsWork with engineering and maintenance teams to improve cycle time and efficiencyDocument setup procedures, issues, and corrective actionsFrequently review the Quality of products following each process and provide feedback to Manufacturing Team Members and making corrections where necessaryAssist Team Leader with reducing scrap, improving quality, and machine efficienciesVerify that documented procedures and instructions are being followed:Standard Operating ProceduresRework InstructionsWork InstructionsPreventive Maintenance InstructionsInspection InstructionsReaction PlansProcess Set-up InstructionsHousekeepingEnd of Shift Clean-upPerform changeovers/setups, minor adjustments and maintenance at required operations per the Supervisors and Team Leaders directionPrepare tools or tooling if applicableQualification Requirements/EducationRequired Skills and EducationHigh School Diploma or GED (Associate Degree in Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering, Tool Design Engineering or Manufacturing preferred) or equivalent work experience in the Manufacturing functionEXPERIENCE (Depending On Your Area Of Responsibility)MACHINE LINE: High school diploma or GED (technical certification preferred)3–5+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing or machining environmentsHands-on experience with:FANUC robot programming and troubleshootingAlfing machining systemsSW equipmentStama CNC / multi-spindle machinesStrong understanding of CNC machining, tooling, and automation systemsAbout AAMAs a leading global Tier 1 Automotive and Mobility Supplier, AAM designs, engineers and manufactures Driveline and Metal Forming technologies to support electric, hybrid and internal combustion vehicles.
