Our platform supports off-campus housing discovery, verified listings, student onboarding, roommate matching, housing support tools, and university partnership workflows.We are looking for a reliable part-time technical team member who can help us continue building, improving, and maintaining the EDUrain platform.Role OverviewThe Part-Time Full-Stack Developer / Technical Product Associate will support EDUrain’s technical operations, product development, bug fixing, documentation, and platform improvements.This role is ideal for someone who wants startup experience, can work independently, communicates clearly, and is comfortable helping a growing company stabilize and improve its technology platform.The person in this role will help keep the platform moving after a leadership transition and will work directly with the Founder & CEO to prioritize technical tasks, fix issues, document systems, and support product execution.CompensationThis role pays:$10/hour in cash compensationplus$5/hour in equity-based compensation value, subject to a written equity agreement, vesting terms, company approval, and applicable company documentation.The equity-based compensation is not paid as cash and must be documented separately through an equity, advisor, contractor, or restricted equity agreement.Final compensation structure will be confirmed in writing before work begins.Key ResponsibilitiesProduct DevelopmentSupport development of EDUrain’s student housing platform.Help build, test, and improve user-facing platform features.Assist with frontend and backend tasks as assigned.Help identify and fix bugs, errors, and broken workflows.Support platform updates connected to student accounts, landlord accounts, listings, university portals, and internal admin tools.Technical OperationsMonitor platform issues and communicate blockers quickly.Help maintain technical documentation.Support deployment, testing, and technical troubleshooting.Help organize code, tasks, tickets, and technical priorities.Assist with the company’s transition and stabilization after prior technical leadership changes.Documentation and ReportingProvide written updates on completed tasks, blockers, and next steps.Help document platform structure, workflows, technical issues, and fixes.Create clear notes so future developers can understand the system.Maintain weekly technical progress reports.Team CommunicationAttend scheduled team meetings or technical check-ins.Communicate clearly if unavailable or blocked.Provide end-of-day or weekly updates as requested.Work professionally with the CEO, team members, interns, advisors, and future technical hires.Required SkillsBasic to intermediate full-stack development experience.Ability to read, understand, and work within an existing codebase.Experience with modern web applications.Ability to troubleshoot bugs and explain issues clearly.Strong written communication.Reliable follow-through and accountability.Willingness to document work.Comfort working in an early-stage startup environment.Preferred SkillsExperience with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, Convex, Firebase, or similar tools.Experience with student platforms, marketplaces, SaaS products, or housing-related platforms.Experience using GitHub and project management tools.Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, or similar systems.Interest in higher education, student success, housing access, or social impact startups.ExpectationsThe person in this role is expected to:Work consistently each week.Complete assigned tasks on time.Communicate before deadlines are missed.Provide written updates.Document technical work.Protect company information and user data.Maintain professionalism with internal and external stakeholders.Help EDUrain move faster while keeping the platform stable.First 30-Day PrioritiesDuring the first 30 days, the developer will focus on:Reviewing the current EDUrain platform and codebase.Identifying urgent technical issues and bugs.Creating a technical status report.Helping stabilize key student and landlord workflows.Supporting platform updates needed for university partners.Documenting systems, access points, and development priorities.Completing assigned development tasks from the CEO or technical lead.Success MetricsSuccess in this role will be measured by:Tasks completed consistently each week.Bugs identified and resolved.Quality of communication and documentation.Ability to work independently.Platform improvements shipped.Responsiveness to team needs.Contribution to EDUrain’s technical stability and growth.Important Note on EquityThe $5/hour equity-based compensation value must be confirmed through a separate written agreement. Equity is subject to company approval, vesting terms, contribution expectations, and applicable company documentation.
