Metrology Quality Engineer

Job DescriptionPosition Overview The Quality Engineer – ZEISS Metrology is responsible for ensuring product quality and dimensional compliance through the use of ZEISS metrology systems and quality engineering principles. This role supports manufacturing, engineering, and customers by developing inspection programs, analyzing measurement data, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.Key ResponsibilitiesMetrology & InspectionCMM, hard gaging, and other required inspection support for the Applications department for Turnkey and test cut business.Program, operate, and maintain ZEISS Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs)Develop inspection routines using ZEISS CALYPSO, Inspect, and/or PiWebPerform First Article Inspections (FAI), in-process, and final inspectionsInterpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5Quality EngineeringInvestigate nonconformances and perform root cause analysis (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone)Implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)Support quality system requirements (ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 13485, as applicable)Analyze measurement data and generate quality reportsManufacturing & Cross-Functional SupportPartner with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Automation teams to improve processesSupport new product introductions (NPI) and process validationsAssist in supplier quality evaluations and part qualificationProvide technical support and training related to inspection methodsCustomer & Compliance Support (if applicable)Interface with customers during audits or quality reviewsSupport customer measurement requirements and documentationAssist with continuous improvement and best practices in metrology workflowsRequired Skills & AbilitiesBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or related field (or equivalent experience)3+ years of experience in quality engineering or metrologyHands-on experience with ZEISS CMMs and softwareStrong knowledge of GD&TExperience in precision manufacturing environments (machining, automation, aerospace, medical, etc.)Strong problem-solving and communication skillsExperience with high-precision or regulated industriesFamiliarity with statistical tools (SPC, MSA)Experience supporting audits and compliance documentationBackground working closely with CNC machining or automated systemsTravel RequirementsAs-needed basis to support our other offices, estimated at approximately 10% or less.Supervisory RequirementsNonePhysical RequirementsProlonged periods of desk/computer work.Ability to walk manufacturing floors and assess operations.Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.Adherence to PPE and safety protocols required on shop floors.
