Its mission is to help families access needed services, develop self-sufficiency, and participate fully as members of the community. Our staff is a diverse and talented team willing to take innovative and unique approaches to help children, youth and families thrive and succeed.Program Summary GSFRC provides 6 summer programs serving K-5th, 6th-8th , and 9th-12th grade youth. Our Summer camps focus on summer learning, enrichments, recreation, and exploration field trips. With a strong focus in supporting youth with social emotional learning and development we strive to build community, spark the interest of life-long learning, and provide introductions to a variety of activities and interests. Our camps operate for 6 to 8 weeks and offer a blend of academics, summer fun, and community exploration. 4 of our 6 camps are designed specifically to support Latinx Newcomer and EL youth specifically.Position Summary The Summer Site Assistant (SSA)'s main purpose is to provide direct service, engagement, and supervision to the student participants in one of our 6 summer programs. Summer Site Assistants create and use lesson plans to implement and facilitate various enrichment curriculums and activities. SSAs support with some administrative and operations duties as assigned by the Program Manager. As a Summer Site Assistant, you will have an opportunity to be a role model for youth and help to create a safe, enriching, and fun environment for youth to learn and grow. You will work as a team member, engaging with, supervising, and interacting with young people in a summer camp setting. The Summer Site Assistant position will also perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Program Manager.Specific ResponsibilitiesProvide direct service, supervision, and support to the students during programOperate as a dependable team member working cooperatively and collaboratively with fellow staff to provide a nurturing and supportive environment for students and fellow staffCreate and maintain lesson plans and program curriculum that are grounded in youth development best practicesMaintain a safe, clean, positive, fun, and engaging environment Uphold and enforce all safety policies and proceduresAttend mandatory staff, supervision and other designated meetingsMaintain a predetermined work scheduleOther ResponsibilitiesPerform some daily administrative support and operating tasks as assigned by the Program ManagerChaperone and facilitate field tripsAbility to maintain confidentialityAbility to promote, maintain, and contribute consistently to a positive work culture and team environmentAbility to demonstrate professionalism and respect in communication in all situations and with all stakeholders (participants, staff, parents, teachers, etc.)Ability to be flexible and responsive to a variety of student and programmatic needsOther job-related duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsBilingual (Spanish and English)High school diploma or equivalent AND passed SFUSD District Instructional Aide Exam; OR High school diploma or equivalent AND passed CBEST; OR High school diploma or equivalent AND 48 college units (official transcripts required); OR associate degree or higher.Desired QualificationsExperience with facilitating or leading youth age-appropriate activitiesExperience working with African American and/or Latinx immigrant community populationsRequirementsMust complete a full background check (Department of Justice, FBI, Child Abuse Index) after conditional offer is made.Must have TB clearance Must complete and maintain current California Mandated Reporter Training certification, in compliance with California state law.
