Machine Learning Engineer

This role offers the opportunity to work in a cloud-native environment, strengthen pipeline reliability, and contribute to meaningful improvements in observability, monitoring, and performance.ResponsibilitiesSupport and maintain production ML pipelines that deliver inventory and workload insightsMonitor daily workflows and troubleshoot issues to help ensure reliability and SLA adherenceImprove the stability, performance, and observability of existing pipelinesDevelop and enhance monitoring and alerting solutions using cloud-native tools and custom instrumentationWork within a GCP and Vertex AI environment to support pipeline operations and improvementsCollaborate with engineers, data scientists, and operations partners to resolve issues and implement enhancementsContribute to code changes and operational improvements using GitHub workflows and team standardsSkillsStrong Python programming skillsWorking knowledge of PySparkHands-on experience with GCP services, including Vertex AI, BigQuery, Kubeflow Pipelines, and Cloud MonitoringFamiliarity with ML workflow orchestration tools such as KFP, Airflow, or similar platformsExperience monitoring and troubleshooting jobs in distributed cloud environmentsUnderstanding of observability practices, including OTEL and custom metrics instrumentationExperience working with GitHub workflows, including pull requests, branching, and code reviewsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities with close attention to detailClear communication skills and a collaborative mindsetPreferred SkillsExperience balancing operational support with targeted development workBackground in improving production pipeline reliability and performanceAbility to proactively identify opportunities for process or system improvementsComfort working in cross-functional environments with technical and operational partnersHorizontal is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace where all people feel valued, respected, and supported.
