Technician, High VoltageThe HV Technician is a safety-minded individual who participates in a COZ (Culture of Zero) pertaining to safety and quality by working safely and actively engaging in safety while striving to deliver an unparalleled level of quality craftsmanship to our customers. This individual must demonstrate the ability to learn electrical and mechanical theory and be able to couple that knowledge with practical skills to learn how to successfully repair, replace, install, & commission HV Cable Systems. The HV Technician must be able to work as part of a team to execute projects according to budgets and schedules successfully. Key Responsibilities: Follow all applicable safety and environmental rules and regulations. Learn the Installation of High Voltage cables by pulling cables in conduits or laying cables in open trenches while maintaining the quality sensitive criteria required for high-voltage cables. Must possess the ability to learn HV cable prep methodologies while demonstrating knowledge in or the ability to learn the securing of cables at manholes and termination structures utilizing clamping devices while maintaining proper spacing, dimensions and orientation of the cables in respect to the cable accessories. Must be able to attain certification of at least one accessory manufacturer in one year. Learn to perform pre, after-laying, and commissioning JIT (jacket integrity test) on high-voltage cable under the direction of Sr HV Tech. Must learn to interpret single-line/bonding diagrams. Must learn to install bonding systems including link boxes (SVL or DG) under the direction of Sr HV Tech. Assist in the receiving, inspection, packaging, and shipping of HV accessories and components. Must maintain and improve trade skills by participating in necessary training/workshops. Assist in maintaining installation equipment, tools, and facilities.
