A Date Available 2026-2027 School Year Additional Information: Show/Hide Primary Purpose Provide leadership and coordination to ensure the district maintains compliance with federal, state, and local requirements for special education. Supervise and support evaluation staff and oversee systems related to evaluation timelines, documentation, and State Performance Plan (SPP) indicators to ensure the delivery of appropriate services to students with disabilities. Qualifications Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university required Master's degree in Special Education or related field preferred Valid Texas certification in Special Education or related field (Educational Diagnostician, Speech-Language Pathologist, or School Psychologist) Principal or other appropriate administrative certification preferred Experience Minimum of 2 years of experience in special education Experience supervising or leading staff preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties Compliance and Program Oversight Ensure district compliance with IDEA, TEA regulations, and local policies and procedures Monitor and track State Performance Plan (SPP) indicators, including Indicators 11 and 12 Oversee evaluation timelines and ensure completion within required legal timelines Assist with TEA cyclical monitoring, audits, and submission of required documentation Support development and implementation of corrective action plans as needed Staff Supervision and Support Supervise and evaluate Educational Diagnosticians, Speech-Language Pathologists, School Psychologists (LSSPs), and Special Education Counselors Provide leadership, coaching, and professional development to assigned staff Promote collaboration among multidisciplinary teams Evaluation and ARD Process Review evaluation reports (FIIEs), eligibility documentation, and ARD/IEP paperwork for compliance and quality Provide guidance to campus staff regarding evaluation procedures and ARD committee requirements Ensure appropriate documentation and services are aligned with student needs Collaboration and Communication Collaborate with campus administrators and district staff to support implementation of special education services Communicate clearly and effectively with staff, parents, and stakeholders regarding compliance requirements Support resolution of complaints, mediation, and due process as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of federal and state special education law and regulations Knowledge of evaluation procedures, ARD/IEP processes, and compliance requirements Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established timelines Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to stressful situations Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and maintain flexibility Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise assigned evaluation staff, including Educational Diagnosticians, Speech-Language Pathologists, School Psychologists (LSSPs), and Special Education Counselors.
