The Department resides in the Mike Cottrell College of Business (MCCB), an AACSB-accredited college of business that offers programs on five campuses in the North Georgia region. The college is located in close proximity to Atlanta and its thriving commercial real estate market. The department has a growing enrollment and a collaborative, energetic faculty engaged in quality research and with a strong focus on high-quality teaching and student engagement.Job SummaryThe Department of Economics and Finance at the University of North Georgia invites applications for an endowed professor of real estate and finance position beginning August 1, 2026. Assistant professors and associate professors will be considered. This is a ten-month, tenure-track position. The position will be located at the Gainesville campus with teaching assignments on both the Gainesville and Dahlonega campuses. Teaching assignments will include real estate finance, principles of finance courses, and other upper-division courses for undergraduates and for students in our M.B.A. program. The candidate selected will be expected to engage extensively with the real estate community, conduct research focused on real estate and related finance issues, and work with students to prepare them for professional careers in real estate.ResponsibilitiesTeaching a total of five classes across the fall and spring semesters of each academic yearUsing innovative teaching and learning techniques to provide high quality instruction in real estate and other finance courses.Providing a student-centered, experiential learning approach in the classroom.Publishing in peer-reviewed theoretical, applied, or pedagogical research journals related to real estate.Engaging with the real estate community to further the goals of the MCCB including connecting students to potential employers, bringing speakers to campus, and facilitating other opportunities for interaction between students and the business community.Participating in active service for the Department of Economics & Finance, the MCCB, and UNG.Providing academic advising and other activities that support student success.Required QualificationsPh.D. or DBA in real estate, finance with a real estate emphasis, or a closely related field from an AACSB accredited institution is required at time of hire.Candidates who are ABD will be considered.Preferred QualificationsIndustry experience relevant to real estateRecord of quality publications in real estate journalsOnline teaching experienceRequired Documents to AttachResume/Curriculum Vitae, Cover Letter, and TranscriptsContact information for three professional referencesUSG Core ValuesThe University System of Georgia is comprised of our 26 institutions of higher education and learning as well as the System Office.
