This is a hands-on, cross-functional role where you'll cut, drill, fit, join, weld, and repair steel components while working collaboratively across multiple fabrication processes.Key ResponsibilitiesWelding & Fabrication: Hand weld and fabricate various metal parts in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions, ensuring compliance with shop welding requirements and codesEquipment Operation: Set up, adjust, and operate welding equipment by managing gas flow, wire feed rate, and heat settings according to standard practicesAssembly: Assemble parts in fixtures or jigs to precise specificationsQuality Control: Inspect work for defects, quality, and dimensional requirements; make timely corrections to ensure proper alignment and conformance to specificationsMachine Shop Operations: Operate various equipment including saws, grinders, drills, and other fabrication tools as neededEquipment Maintenance: Perform minor equipment maintenance and replace consumables such as nozzles, contact tips, weld wire spools, rods, gas bottles, and gaugesBlueprint Reading: Work from shop drawings, blueprints, sketches, work orders, and verbal instructionsSafety & Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, orderly work area and follow all OSHA regulations and safe work practicesRecord Keeping: Perform routine documentation as requiredCommunication: Notify supervisor immediately of faulty equipment or defective materialsQualificationsRequired:Welding experience in multiple positions (flat, horizontal, vertical)Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and sketchesProficiency with hand tools and fabrication equipmentStrong attention to detail and qualityUnderstanding of OSHA safety regulationsReliable attendancePreferred:Experience with various welding processesMachine shop equipment operation experienceKnowledge of welding codes and standardsWork Environment:This position is located in an active industrial manufacturing and distribution center with moderate to high noise levels, temperature variations, and material handling equipment in operation. The role may require extended periods of standing or walking on concrete floors and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and steel-toed boots.
