Attorney - Litigation Associate

Sessions, Israel & Shartle, LLC is seeking motivated Associate Attorneys to join and help grow our nationally recognized Consumer Defense and Compliance & Regulatory practice groups.With 11 offices nationwide and attorneys licensed in multiple jurisdictions, our firm represents the financial services industry in complex litigation, regulatory matters, and advisory work.This opportunity is ideal for driven attorneys seeking meaningful responsibility, direct client engagement, and long-term growth within a structured, defense-focused practice.Our Consumer Defense PracticeLed by Bryan Shartle and Dayle Van Hoose, with guidance from David Israel, our Consumer Defense Section is the largest practice group in the country dedicated to representing the financial services industry, including:Collection agenciesCreditors and banksDebt buyersStudent loan servicersTelemarketersOther financial institutionsWhat Our Consumer Defense Attorneys DoDefend consumer protection matters in federal and state courts nationwide, including class actionsManage all phases of litigation from case analysis through discovery, depositions, hearings, and trialConduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and briefsDevelop litigation strategy in collaboration with partnersCommunicate directly with clients and opposing counselCoordinate with local counsel across jurisdictionsWork with insurance carriers and risk managersOur Compliance & Regulatory PracticeLed by James Schultz and David Israel, the Compliance & Regulatory Section advises financial services clients on proactive risk management and regulatory compliance.What Compliance & Regulatory Attorneys DoProvide customized legal advice tailored to client operations and business needsDraft and update comprehensive memoranda and state-by-state legal summariesAdvise on federal and state consumer protection laws, including FDCPA, TCPA, FCRA, EFTA, bankruptcy, student loan regulations, and related statutesDraft and review policies and procedures to reduce risk exposureConduct compliance audits of businesses, vendors, and agenciesPrepare clients for CFPB supervisory reviews, state regulatory examinations, and licensing auditsAssist with subpoenas, investigations, audits, and enforcement actionsDraft responses to regulatory complaintsQualificationsJ.D. from an ABA-accredited law schoolAcademic distinction (top 50% of class, law review, and/or moot court preferred)Consumer defense or insurance coverage experience preferred but not requiredAdmission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (multi-state licensure and federal court admissions a plus)Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skillsAbility to manage a significant caseload or project load independentlyStrategic thinker with sound judgmentComfortable working in a paperless environmentProficiency with Microsoft OfficeSelf-motivated with strong communication skillsWhat We OfferCompetitive salary and bonus potentialHSA-qualified medical plans401(k) with automatic Firm contributionNational platform with cross-jurisdictional exposureDirect client interaction and early responsibilityLong-term growth within specialized practice areasFor more information about our firm and practice areas, visit www.sessions.legal.
