Specifications WriterPosition PurposeThe Specification Writer will utilize knowledge of construction products, materials, and methods to write specifications for a variety of projects and building types including commercial office, education, healthcare, federal, industrial, and other building types. The selected individual will have a good working knowledge of building materials, systems, and techniques.In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesReasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functionsLead the development and execution of specifications for multiple projectsCollaborate with the project manager and design team to ensure thorough and accurate preparation of the project manualInterpret drawings and related project information to develop and edit project-specific specificationsApply a thorough understanding of design requirements to translate project needs into clear, accurate specificationsServe as a technical resource on products, materials, and standards, and maintain institutional knowledge.Maintain current knowledge of industry reference standards and resourcesOther duties as assignedCompetenciesStrong communication skills, service-oriented mindset, and consistent initiative with follow-throughStrong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to complete tasks accurately and efficientlyProficient with Microsoft WordExperienced with SpecLink softwareExperienced with SpecsIntact softwareQualifications / Prior ExperienceBachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, interior design, or related field5 years of experience in specification writingExperience writing specifications for federal projectsCSE Certification - CDT or CCSWork EnvironmentThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance visions, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.Prolonged period of sitting or standing at a desk while working on a computer.About UsCromwell Architects Engineers offers the opportunity to be part of something bigger.
