BIM Engineer

We are seeking a BIM Engineer with experience in material handling or conveyor systems to support the design and coordination of airport baggage handling systems.. This role will focus on developing accurate 2D and 3D AutoCAD models and layouts, supporting installation, coordination, and construction efforts in complex airport environments. This is a 18+ month contract to direct opportunity in the metro Detroit area.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain 2D layouts and 3D BIM models for baggage handling conveyor systems using AutoCAD (2D & 3D)Create detailed installation drawings, equipment layouts, and system routing plansReview and interpret project specifications, architectural drawings, and engineering documentsIdentify and resolve design clashes and spatial conflicts within airport facilitiesSupport field installation teams with drawing updates, redlines, and as-built documentationParticipate in design reviews, coordination meetings, and project planning sessionsEnsure drawings meet industry standards, client specifications, and project timelinesQualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)3+ years of experience in BIM, CAD design, or layout engineeringStrong proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and 3D (required)Familiarity with Revit, Navisworks, or other BIM coordination toolsExperience with conveyor systems, material handling, or airport projects preferredUnderstanding of mechanical systems, equipment layouts, and industrial environmentsAbility to read and interpret technical drawings and specificationsStrong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple prioritiesPreferred SkillsExperience with baggage handling systems (BHS) or large-scale conveyor systemsKnowledge of airport design standards and safety requirements
