Cable Apprentice

Overview We are seeking a dedicated Cable Apprentice to join our telecommunications and networking team. This entry-level role offers a comprehensive training opportunity for individuals interested in developing skills in cable installation, telecommunications systems, and network infrastructure. As a Cable Apprentice, you will work under the supervision of experienced technicians to assist with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various communication systems. Key responsibilities include assisting with the installation of fiber optic and structured cabling systems, supporting equipment troubleshooting efforts, and gaining hands-on experience with diagnostic tools and testing equipment. Responsibilities Assist with the installation of fiber optic systems, including splicing and termination processes Support the setup and testing of Ethernet networks, including Cat5, Cat6, and other structured cabling Help install telecommunication equipment such as Cisco routers, VoIP systems, and Avaya communication devices Use diagnostic tools and testing equipment to troubleshoot network and equipment issues Aid in the installation of low-voltage electrical wiring and communication cabling in commercial or industrial settings Follow schematics and technical diagrams accurately during system installations Support the use of hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing devices safely and effectively Participate in routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs of telecommunication systems Assist with fiber splicing operations and fiber optic system installation projects Contribute to ensuring compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards and safety protocols Collaborate with team members on project tasks related to network wiring, equipment repair, and system upgrades Experience No prior professional experience required; however, familiarity with basic electrical or networking concepts is advantageous Demonstrated interest in telecommunications, IT infrastructure, or related technical fields Basic understanding of computer hardware, network installation principles, or low-voltage electrical wiring preferred Experience using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters or network testers is a plus Strong problem-solving skills coupled with a proactive attitude toward learning new skills Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately while maintaining safety standards Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively within a team environment This paid apprenticeship welcomes candidates eager to build a career in telecommunications technology.
