Medical Technician (MT)
Adelphi is seeking a Medical Technician (MT) to provide services at a facility in Welch, West Virginia. The ideal candidate will conduct advanced and complex laboratory tests in clinical disciplines such as blood banking, chemistry, hematology, bacteriology, parasitology, serology, and urinalysis, and will also provide technical assistance, supervision, and training to junior laboratory staff as needed.Job Quick Facts Ref#: BD-879-02 Profession: Allied Health Specialty: Medical Technician (MT) Location: Welch, West Virginia Facility Type: Hospital Job Type: Contract Schedule: TBD (40 hours/week) Rate: $25/hrRequirements Valid West Virginia Clinical Laboratory Technician and Technologist Licensure and Certification Associate degree from an accredited medical laboratory program; OR Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in an accredited Medical Technology program; OR Bachelor’s degree in physical or natural sciences, including at least six hours in biology and chemistry, plus three years of experience in medical laboratory testing Minimum 2 years of experience performing medical laboratory tests in the areas of blood banking, chemistry, hematology, bacteriology, parasitology, serology, and urinalysis Valid Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments Program (CLIA) certificationResponsibilities Conduct a variety of advanced medical laboratory tests to support the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Supervise and provide technical support to laboratory personnel, including Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLTs). Perform quality control checks and ensure the proper functioning of laboratory equipment. Collect, process, isolate, identify, and analyze biological specimens for laboratory testing. Conduct blood typing, grouping, and cross-matching for donor and recipient compatibility. Ensure compliance with Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) and other relevant standards. Maintain laboratory records, including test logs and quality assurance documentation. Train laboratory staff and provide continuing education as required. Prepare and send specimens to reference laboratories for specialized testing when necessary. Additional duties as assigned by facility.
