Actuary Director
Key Function : Actuarial Lead
Builds and maintains actuarial databases
Develops products, rates, rating plans, pricing strategies, and financial forecasts to achieve company-wide objectives for profitability and growth
Models and analyzes product profitability and associated risks
Analyzes and presents findings of pricing to help drive business
Analyzes trends, factors, and/or issues that impact results; determines action plans
Forecasts business expenses
Assesses and communicates change(s) in indications on a quarterly basis and the drivers of the change(s)
Selects loss development patterns for each product
Works with Product Management, Accounting, and/or other units of the company as needed
Applies expert knowledge to improve processes
Assists with all aspects of predictive modeling to include scope, data construction, modeling, and implementation
Assists with the reserve analysis
Provides recommendations to Senior Management that have impact upon the profitability of the organization

Assists in managing staffing requirements and orientation of newly recruited team members
Reviews the performance of staff; identifies training needs
Analyzes performance statistics and makes decisions on the basis of these statistics

Leadership skills and the ability to motivate and develop skills
Plans, meets, and exceeds targets; manages change

Desired Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or related field
Requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
Requires an ACAS/FCAS designation from the Casualty Actuarial Society and a commitment to continuing education requirements
Completion of 3 or more examinations with the Casualty Actuarial Society
Familiarity with programming languages preferred (VBA, R, SQL, Emblem or similar platform)
Proficient with Excel, Access and/or equivalent software
Strong analytical skills
Ability to interpret common scientific/technical journals, financial reports and legal documents
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts
Possesses strong customer service skills and related behaviors
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including presentation skills
