Job SummaryAdvanced Practice Provider (APP) – full-time support to the Vascular & Interventional Radiology (VIR) Department in the hospital and clinic for Tidelands Health. Work Shift: Monday–Friday, 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.Required Minimum Training and ExperienceTraining: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and current license or eligibility for licensure; or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program and current (or eligible) APRN license.APRN License Types:FNP (Family NP) – birth to death, stable chronic disease management, primary care across the lifespan.Experience: Minimum 1 year with adult patients and minimum 1 year post-training procedural/critical care experience.Preferred Training and ExperienceTraining: Physician Assistant or FNP.Experience: Minimum 1 year with adult patients and 1 year post-training procedural/critical care experience.Degree of SupervisionAdvanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant will be assigned a Primary Supervising/Collaborating Physician employed by MUSC and will report directly to that physician.Required Licensure, Certifications, RegistrationsBasic Life Support (BLS).Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).If applicable, DHEC and DEA license applications must be started prior to the first day.Job DutiesTakes comprehensive history and performs physical examinations.Evaluates and treats patients based on history, examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results pursuant to the practice agreement or scope of practice guideline.Provides care in the outpatient VIR clinic and assists or performs procedures in the VIR vein clinic, including: Radiofrequency ablationVenaseal chemical ablationVarithena chemical ablationSclerotherapyAmbulatory phlebectomyPossibility of performing ultrasound-guided therapeutic procedures as approved by the Clinical Division Chief, such as: ThoracentesisParacentesisLymph node biopsyLiver biopsyThyroid biopsyChest tube placementMidline placementJoint aspirationsDrain placement in fluid collectionsPleur-x catheter placementExamines and writes orders as directed for admissions in collaboration with the supervising physician.Possibility of performing fluoroscopic-guided therapeutic and diagnostic procedures such as: PICC line placement/exchangeDialysis catheter placement/exchangePort placementRoutine nephrostomy tube exchangeJoint injectionsPort studyUpper extremity venogram for dialysis access planningLumbar punctureDialysis access declotsArthrograms/myelogramsDiagnostic fluoroscopic studies including: Barium swallows, Retrograde urologic interventions, Feeding tube placement, Upper GI, Barium Enema, Small bowel follow through, HSGInitiates referrals to other health-care providers and/or consults with attending or collaborating physicians.Documents and bills for direct care provided.Utilizes current research and evidence-based decision-making in all clinical practice.Performs and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research.Participates in and supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization.Demonstrates responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing education.Potential to precept students enrolled as advanced practice provider students and facilitate learning of new team members.Maintains all required licenses, certifications, CNEs/CMEs, and other professional credentials in accordance with applicable policies and state law.Additional Job DescriptionPhysical RequirementsContinuous job functions include standing, walking, and sitting; bending at waist, kneeling, climbing stairs, reaching in all directions, using both hands and legs with good finger dexterity, performing repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows/shoulders, and moving objects up to 50 lbs. Vision: 20/40 corrected; latex-safe environment; indoor work.
