Preconstruction Executive
JL Partners is working with a highly regarded, full-service general contractor with integrated Architecture & Engineering capabilities and a deep portfolio in Healthcare and Life Sciences construction across New England. We are seeking a Preconstruction Executive to lead a preconstruction practice, drive business development, and serve as a senior point of partnership for their most important client relationships in the Boston market and beyond.This is a leadership role with direct influence over firm strategy, preconstruction team development, and client acquisition. You will operate at the intersection of business development and technical delivery, championing our integrated GC/AE model and helping prospective clients understand the competitive advantages of early engagement. You will report to senior leadership and carry significant accountability for preconstruction revenue and win rates.You will: Own the complete preconstruction functions, including budgeting, estimating, scheduling, value engineering, and subcontractor strategy across a portfolio of Healthcare and Life Sciences projects.Act as an executive-level client liaison during pursuit, interview, and preconstruction phases to build trusted, long-term relationships with owners and health systems.Collaborate with in-house Architecture and Engineering leadership to align integrated delivery strategies with client goals and market positioning.Lead proposal development, interview preparation, and go/no-go decision-making for major Healthcare and Life Sciences pursuits.Attract, mentor, and develop a high-performing preconstruction team, establishing standards, workflows, and a culture of precision and accountability.Contribute to firm-wide strategies, including market expansion, key hire decisions, and preconstruction process improvement initiatives.We need:15+ years of progressive preconstruction and/or construction leadership experience within a general contracting or integrated delivery firmSignificant Healthcare or Life Sciences sector depth — hospitals, medical office buildings, cGMP environments, research labs, or similar highly technical building typesProven track record leading pursuits and winning work exceeding $100M+ in project value; existing relationships within the New England healthcare and institutional owner community is a strong differentiatorExperience operating within or alongside an integrated AE/GC firm; comfort navigating the design and construction interface is essentialExceptional executive presence — a credible, compelling communicator in front of C-suite clients, health system leadership, and institutional boardsBachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or Architecture required; advanced degree or DBIA/CCM credentials a plus
