Principal Integration EngineerLocation: New York, NYWork Model: HybridJob SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Principal Integration Engineer to lead the architecture, design, development, and delivery of high-performance, low-latency brokerage and trading systems. The ideal candidate will bring deep Capital Markets / Trade-related experience, strong Java expertise, and a proven track record building scalable, highly available financial technology platforms.You will work closely with engineering, Broker-Dealer Operations, and business stakeholders to enhance trading and backend systems supporting multiple asset classes, including Equities, Options, and Mutual Funds.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the architecture, design, and delivery of high-performance, low-latency brokerage and trading systems using Java/Golang.Design, develop, and maintain scalable REST APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.Partner with Broker-Dealer Operations teams to support and enhance trading and backend platforms.Work across multiple asset classes, including Equities, Options, Mutual Funds, and related trading workflows.Assess application and database health, performance, scalability, and reliability; recommend and implement technology improvements.Develop components, enhance existing software platforms, define technical specifications, and prepare test data and functional specifications.Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.Troubleshoot complex production issues involving applications, integrations, databases, and distributed systems.Provide technical leadership, architectural guidance, and mentorship to engineering teams.Support system integration, test planning, scripting, performance analysis, and production troubleshooting.Collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a 24x7, highly available environment.Required Qualifications12+ years of software engineering experience, with strong hands-on expertise in Java.Proven experience in Capital Markets, Brokerage, Trading, or Financial Technology.Strong understanding of trade-related systems and workflows.Experience with Reg T / Regulation T and Portfolio-related functionality strongly preferred.Strong knowledge of TDD and development of effective unit and integration tests.Hands-on experience with REST APIs, microservices, Kafka, and event-driven architectures.Experience with Kubernetes and containerized application environments.Strong SQL/NoSQL experience, including PostgreSQL and/or MySQL, stored procedures, and data-intensive applications.Strong experience with AWS.Experience with Linux/Unix environments and scripting.Experience with Git, Jenkins, Jira, and modern CI/CD practices.Experience designing and supporting highly available, scalable, 24x7 systems.Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, and technical leadership skills.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.Nice to HaveMultiple years of experience in FinTech, particularly Post-Trade, Payments, Brokerage, or SaaS platforms.Experience with Golang.Experience with Linux scripting for data extraction and transformation.Deeper experience with brokerage, trade processing, portfolio, or post-trade platforms.Experience with performance engineering and optimization of low-latency distributed systems.
