These services connect directly to critical business data and serve as foundational building blocks used by engineering teams throughout the organization.About The RoleAs a Senior Software Engineer at McKesson, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and maintaining production-grade APIs and event-driven services that are integral to our healthcare solutions. Your expertise will help establish and uphold engineering standards, ensuring high-quality, scalable, and reliable systems. You will serve as a technical resource, providing guidance on architectural decisions, reviewing solution designs, and mentoring engineering team members. This role is highly collaborative and primarily backend-focused, with minimal frontend development involved.Your contributions will directly impact how our services connect critical health data, support operational excellence, and enable innovation across the organization. Success in this role requires strong technical depth, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to influence teams through your expertise rather than authority. Typically, candidates should have at least 7+ years of relevant experience in software development, with a strong background in designing, building, and operating production APIs and backend services.Critical skills include extensive experience developing backend services using TypeScript, Node.js, and Python, along with working knowledge of Kafka or similar event-streaming platforms. Proficiency in designing and maintaining relational database schemas using PostgreSQL, implementing infrastructure as code with Terraform, and supporting CI/CD pipelines via platforms like GitHub Actions is essential. Candidates should also have experience troubleshooting production issues and participating in technical design discussions and code reviews.Preferred qualifications include familiarity with Azure services, Kubernetes, Helm, and modernization of applications built with frameworks like Ruby on Rails or Elixir.
