The Special Education Teacher will work closely with our Special Services Coordinator in supporting students with IEPs as well as assisting with 504 development and implementation. This role focuses on providing push-in support within general education classrooms, delivering specially designed instruction, and helping students build executive functioning, independence, and social-emotional skills. The position also includes collaboration with teachers and families, case management of IEPs/504 Plans, and contributing to a strong, inclusive school environment. Key Responsibilities:Instruction & Student SupportProvide push-in special education services within general education classrooms to support access to curriculumDevelop and implement specially designed instruction (SDI) aligned to student needs and grade-level standardsImplement strategies to strengthen executive functioning, organization, task initiation, sustained attention, and self-regulationSupport students with social-emotional needs, including those with autism, through structured interventions and in-the-moment coachingCollaboration & ConsultationCollaborate with general education teachers to adapt instruction and support diverse learnersProvide consultation and problem-solving support for teachers regarding struggling learnersParticipate in multidisciplinary team meetings, including IEP, eligibility, and IST processesCollaborate with our special services coordinator to provide professional development and ongoing staff support with an emphasis on executive functioning, autism, and inclusive practicesCase Management & ComplianceServe as a case manager for a caseload of students with IEPsDevelop, write, and manage IEPs and 504 Plans in compliance with state and federal regulationsManage and oversee a 504 caseload, including documentation and complianceConduct academic and functional assessments to inform instructional planning and IEP developmentCollect, analyze, and report data on student progress toward IEP goalsMonitor student progress and adjust supports based on data and team inputTransition & PlanningSupport transition planning, including post-secondary goals related to college, career, or vocational pathwaysWork closely with school counselors to assist with scheduling and course planning to ensure appropriate placement and supports for students with IEPs and 504 PlansCritical Experience and QualificationsExperience working with students with autism spectrum disorders and social-emotional needs preferredStrong knowledge of executive functioning interventions and strategiesExperience providing push-in/inclusion support in general education settingsFamiliarity with IEP and 504 development, compliance, and case managementStrong collaboration and communication skillsCertification RequirementsHold Special Education Teacher of Students with Disabilities certification. SalarySalary will be computed in accordance with the experience and training of the individual selected and in accordance with the salary schedules for employees of The Charter School of Wilmington. Direct deposit of payroll checks is mandatory for state employment, and employees are paid on a lag pay schedule with the first payment made after approximately one month of employment.NotesA criminal background check, Delaware Child Protection Registry check, and tuberculin test are required.
