Accountant

Clayton Services is searching for an Accountant to join a thriving company in the West Houston area. The Accountant will be responsible for supporting accurate financial reporting, managing revenue recognition, assisting with month-end close, and coordinating tax schedules with external CPA partners.Job Type: Direct HirePay Rate: $70,000-$80,000/yearBenefits: Excellent benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, and additional company benefits.Work Setting: Onsite to start then transitions to hybridAccountant Responsibilities:Maintain and support banking relationships and financial account managementPrepare and coordinate tax-related documents and schedules for external CPA partnersPrepare payroll journal entries, financial reports, and reconciliationsPerform statutory reporting, financial analysis, and month-end close activitiesMaintain and reconcile the fixed asset register including additions, disposals, and depreciation schedulesConduct balance sheet variance analysis and investigate discrepanciesAssist with preparing audit schedules and supporting external auditsEnsure compliance with US GAAP and internal financial reporting policiesIdentify opportunities for process improvements within the accounting functionMaintain accurate documentation of accounting processes and proceduresEnsure system controls, data integrity, and regulatory compliance across financial systemsCollaborate with finance leadership, operations teams, and project stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reportingPerform additional accounting and financial support duties as assignedAccountant Skills and Abilities:Strong knowledge of US GAAP, including revenue recognition principlesExperience with project accounting and billing cycles in a services-based environmentAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, formulas, and lookup functionsExperience with accounting systems such as Sage, NetSuite, Workday, Oracle, SAP, or similar platformsStrong analytical and financial reporting skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentStrong attention to detail and accuracyAbility to work independently and collaboratively within a team environmentAbility to maintain confidentiality of company and client financial informationAccountant Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance requiredCPA or MBA preferred4–7+ years of progressive accounting experienceExperience in professional services, consulting, or project-based environments preferredExperience supporting external audits preferredAccountant - Immediate need.
