Program Management Director - National Healthcare
OverviewA leading, nationally recognized organization is seeking a Program Management Director to provide executive leadership for complex healthcare capital programs across the United States.This individual will oversee large-scale healthcare developments, acting in a program leadership capacity on behalf of ownership-guiding planning, design, construction, and delivery to ensure successful outcomes aligned with strategic, financial, and operational goals.This is a highly visible leadership role requiring strong executive presence, deep healthcare expertise, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders across large, complex programs.Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Leadership & StrategyProvide executive oversight for large-scale healthcare capital programs, including hospitals, ambulatory facilities, and campus expansionsPartner with internal leadership, healthcare clients, and financial stakeholders to define program strategy, scope, and delivery approachEstablish governance structures, communication protocols, and performance expectations across project teamsPredevelopment & PlanningSupport master planning and early-stage development strategyLead development of comprehensive project budgets, including construction, soft costs, and equipment planningProvide input during programming and conceptual design to align scope, schedule, and budgetDesign & Preconstruction OversightOversee design teams and ensure coordination across disciplinesLead value analysis and cost management effortsGuide contractor and consultant selection processesEnsure constructability, scope alignment, and schedule integrityConstruction & DeliveryMonitor overall program performance, including budget, schedule, and riskOversee third-party general contractors and project teamsEnsure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and contractual obligationsInterface with financial partners on funding processes and reportingClose-Out & TransitionOversee project close-out, commissioning, and transition to operationsEnsure completion of all documentation and post-project evaluationsClient & Stakeholder ManagementBuild and maintain strong relationships with healthcare executives, partners, and project stakeholdersPresent program updates and strategic insights to executive and board-level audiencesSupport business development and long-term client engagement effortsQualificationsRequired:Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field15+ years of leadership experience in healthcare capital project delivery, program management, or constructionExperience leading large, complex healthcare projects, including hospitals and/or major campus developmentsProven experience managing the full project lifecycle from planning through construction and occupancyExperience overseeing third-party contractors in a program management or owner's representative capacityStrong understanding of healthcare facility requirements, regulatory standards, and building systems (MEP, life safety, infection control, etc.)Demonstrated experience working with executive stakeholders and leadership teamsPreferredAdvanced degree (MBA, MHA, or related field)Experience with alternative delivery methods (CM at Risk, Design-Build)Exposure to complex financing structures (P3, structured finance, or similar environments)Key Skills & CompetenciesStrong financial acumen, including budgeting, capital planning, and performance trackingExecutive-level communication and presentation skillsAbility to lead and align cross-functional teams across multiple stakeholdersStrategic thinker with the ability to connect project delivery to broader business objectivesStrong organizational and problem-solving skills in complex environmentsRelationship-driven leadership style with a focus on collaboration and trustLocation & TravelFlexible base location within the U.S. (preference for major regional hubs)Travel required to project sites and stakeholder meetingsIf you are interested in learning more about this position, please apply or email me directly at stephanie.galindo@gogpac.com /615.439.2866- All inquiries are strictly confidential.All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, age, color, sex (including pregnancy), religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, military status, genetic information, or any other status protected by applicable laws or regulations.GPAC (Growing People and Companies) is an award-winning search firm specializing in placing quality professionals within multiple industries across the United States since 1990.
