Implementation Engineer – US Lead
Location: US Remote (with up to 50% field travel in Year 1 and 25% thereafter)Reporting To: Head of Platform DeliveryLIO is expanding rapidly in the US following established adoption across 80+ UK hospitals. As our first US-dedicated platform Implementation Engineer, you will own the technical execution bridge between LIO’s edge compute platform and hospital IT environments. In Year 1, you will operate as a high-autonomy "player-coach"; designing network topographies, guiding hospital IT committees through integration, configuring servers and switchgear before deploying hardware on-site. As our US customer footprint expands through 2027, you will transition hands-on rack builds and field operations to junior hires or subcontracted teams.About YouStartup Mindset & Adaptability: You thrive in high-autonomy, early-stage scaling environments where processes are actively being built. You are excited to be hands-on in the field during Year 1 while maintaining the strategic perspective needed to build playbooks and transition routine work as the team grows.Versatile Technical Communicator: You can seamlessly adjust your communication style across diverse hospital IT landscapes—from running an informal 1-on-1 alignment session with a solo IT administrator to leading a structured, 10-person enterprise committee spanning NetOps, InfoSec, and Health Informatics leads.Customer Bridge: You translate complex requirements (edge compute, VLAN backhaul, OIDC auth etc.) into clear, actionable steps for customer stakeholders.Resourceful Ownership: You take ownership, run asynchronous discovery, and drive projects across the finish line with a strong bias for action.Key ResponsibilitiesNetwork Architecture & InstallationTailor LIO’s edge compute and network topology (rack servers, switchgear, physical firewalls etc.) to hospital facilitiesPerform initial site surveys, hardware staging, server rack installations, and critical network switch configurations (year 1)Work with the UK Platform Delivery Team to standardize US deployment processes and establish playbooks to transition routine field work and junior support tasks by late 2027Customer IT Stakeholder ManagementLead technical discovery sessions with client IT departments ranging from single-person teams to 10+ member enterprise committees (spanning NetOps, InfoSec, and IAM).Define technical pre-flight gates to ensure MDF/IDF space, power, cooling, and network configurations are signed off prior to physical deployment.Align client teams and LIO teams on integration projects across: OIDC user authentication, HL7 EHR integration, and MDM-managed Android endpoints.Platform SupportWork with the UK team to deliver Tier 2/3 platform support, including on-site remediation during initial US expansion in year 1Serve as the senior escalation point for complex technical issues and on-site remediation, without losing the ability to get hands-on (year 2 onwards)RequirementsEssentialExperience: 5+ years in network engineering or enterprise infrastructure deploymentNetworking & Hardware: Strong hands-on expertise with Layer 2/3 networking, VLANs, trunking, firewall policies, managed switch gear, and physical server rack hardware.Stakeholder Execution: Experience leading technical design calls with enterprise IT, InfoSec, and network architecture teams.System Triage & Root Cause Analysis: Demonstrated expertise in end-to-end fault tracing and debugging complex distributed edge computing and network systems under tight SLAs.Documentation & Technical Writing: Excellent written English with a strong track record of producing clear architecture diagrams, customer-facing technical handbooks or operational runbooks.Systems & Stack: Proficiency with Linux bare-metal/edge environments, Docker containerization, shell scripting, and basic Python.Startup Mindset: Willingness to be hands-on in the field (up to 50% initial travel) while building processes to scale the US function, under the guidance of the UK team lead.Valid US driver’s license, passport, and ability to travel nationally and occasionally to the UK.DesirablePrevious experience of enterprise healthcare IT environmentsExperience with Android MDM tools (Esper) and configuration automation tools (CHEF, Ansible).Certifications such as Network+, Linux+, CCNA, or RHCSA.
