Product Design Engineer
Job Summary:The Product Design Engineer will work to design, develop, and maintain screw-in hydraulic cartridge valves. The candidate will be the technical owner of various product lines based on technical expertise. The Design Engineer is challenged with being a key contributor to the continuous improvement of our cartridge valve technology product portfolio, both locally and globally.Duties/Responsibilities:Responsible for all aspects of given product line(s) by developing and maintaining requirements of the designSubmit and carry out Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) effective and efficientlyCoordinate with manufacturing engineering and operations teams for:Design for Manufacturing, Cost, AssemblyFirst Pass Yield (FPY) ImprovementsDesign custom cartridges for customer specific applications utilizing specialized software to create models and drawings of productsWork with customers, distributors, integrators, etc. to answer technical questions and specify appropriate cartridge utilizationProvide technical guidance and expertise on design related issuesDrive the project management of new applications from initial conception to final commissioning/in-field testing through to production releasePrepare and deliver presentations at reviews and meetingsRequired Skills/Abilities:Hands-on capability to carry through the complete project from conception to final sign-off by the customerAbility to understand complex mathematical relationships that underpin mechanical analysisAbility to read and interpret blueprint documentsAbility to proficiently utilize CAD/3-D Modeling SoftwareAbility to coordinate and communicate tasks across a wide range of cross-functional teamsExtreme attention to detailEducation and Experience:B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics is highly preferred.Experience in the use of simulation tools (e.g., FEA, CFD, 1-D, etc.)Knowledge of screw-in cartridge, sub plate mounted and stackable mobile sectional valves, as well as a solid understanding of hydraulic components, circuits, and systemsThorough understanding of materials, linear and nonlinear behavior of materials, fatigue, and corrosionUnderstanding of GD&T standards and best practicesUnderstanding of 6 Sigma principlesPhysical Requirements:Ability to sit for prolonged periods of timeAbility to lift to 35 pounds
