Continuing Care Retirement Communities and Assisted Living Facilities for the ElderlyPrivate HouseholdsChild Care ServicesOther Residential Care FacilitiesResidential Intellectual and Developmental Disability, Mental Health, and Substance Abuse FacilitiesROLE DESCRIPTION: a driven, detail-oriented accounting professional who brings a strong technical foundation and an eagerness to grow beyond the transactional, embracing increasing responsibility within a growing, industry-leading organizationPrimary ResponsibilityServes as a critical bridge between transaction-level execution and higher-level financial oversightTransaction Supervision & General LedgerSupervise and review the accuracy and completeness of all transaction-level accounting activity, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, payroll entries, and general journal entriesServe as the first line of review for finance team, ensuring entries are properly coded and documentedMonitor the general ledger for unusual activity, misclassifications, or errors, and initiate corrective action as appropriateMonth-End Close & ReconciliationsPrepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations for all key accounts, including cash, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, fixed assets, and intercompany accountsInvestigate and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner, escalating material issues to the ControllerMaintain a close checklist and ensure all deliverables are completed within established deadlinesPrepare and distribute month-end financial schedules and variance analyses for management reviewBudgeting & Forecasting SupportAssist in the preparation of the annual operating budget, including coordinating departmental input and consolidating submissionsPerform budget-to-actual variance analysis on a monthly basis, identifying key drivers of variance and communicating findings clearlyMaintain budget tracking schedules and respond to ad hoc requests from department managers regarding budget statusController Support & ReportingAssist the Controller preparation of financial statements and supporting schedulesSupport external audit and tax preparation activities, including organizing workpapers and responding to auditor requestsMaintain and oversee the company's lease accounting portfolio in accordance with ASC 842, including the timely recording of ROU assets and lease liabilities, monthly amortization schedules, and coordination with operations to identify and classify new or modified lease agreementsParticipate in the implementation or improvement of accounting systems, processes, and internal controlsAssist with preparation of regulatory filings, lender reporting, or board-level financial packages as directedQualifications and Education RequirementsBachelor's degree in a business-related field with coursework in accounting3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environmentPrior experience supervising accounting transactions or junior staff preferredExcellent computer skills including proficiency in MS Office. MAS 90/Sage 100 experience a plusExcellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple requests/assignmentsStrong communications skills for both staff and upper managementAbility to work a flexible schedule as business demandswork environmentOffice setting
