Primary FunctionResponsible for performing various patient care activities and related non-professional services to care for the personal needs and comfort of patients. Work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and observe all hospital policies and procedures.Responsibilities-Provide general patient care and performs routine treatments and procedures as directed by the Registered Nurse.-Provide care, assisting with personal hygiene to promote patient's comfort and well being.-Check and record intake and output as ordered.-Take and record patient's vital signs and other measurements as indicated.-Give enemas, reinforce simple non-sterile dressings, apply binders, collect specimens, apply heat or cold devices and perform other routine tasks.-Assist the RN in caring for seriously ill patients or in complicated treatments or procedures.-Assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment with well-stocked supplies and functioning equipment.-Maintain patient's medical records in an orderly manner and document all care provided and significant information, legibly, accurately and completely.-Observe assigned patients and report any patient care problem, change in patient condition or unexpected occurrences to RN/Team Leader.-Maintain current knowledge of specialty by attending seminars and inservices.-Performs all other related duties as assigned.Job Qualifications and RequirementsVocational/Technical training and more than six months job-related experience or equivalent.RI State Nursing Assistant license is also required.Care New England Health System (CNE) and its member institutions-Butler Hospital, Women & Infants Hospital, Kent Hospital, VNA of Care New England, Integra, The Providence Center, and Care New England Medical Group, and our Wellness Center-are trusted organizations fueling the latest advances in medical research, attracting the nation's top specialty-trained doctors, and honing renowned services and innovative programs to engage in the important discussions people need to have about their health.Americans with Disability Act Statement: External and internal applicants, as well as position incumbents who become disabled must be able to perform the essential job-specific functions either unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation, to be determined by the organization on a case-by-case basis.EEOC Statement: Care New England is an equal opportunity employer.
