SCHEDULING COORDINATOR
Pa Peterson at the Citadel is currently seeking an experienced Scheduling Coordinator to join our team. The primary purpose of the Scheduling Coordinator is to ensure adequate and appropriate staffing of the facility’s nursing department in order to meet the needs of the residents based on budget, census, and as directed by facility administration.
Scheduling Coordinator Essential Job Functions:
Consults with nursing department staff and supervisors concerning the staffing/scheduling needs to assists in eliminating/correcting problem areas and/or improving services.
Coordinates appropriate coverage for “call-outs” for each scheduled shift in a timely fashion and alerts the nursing supervisor regarding vacant slots which have not been filled.
Designates a licensed nurse to serve as a Charge Nurse/Nurse Supervisor on each shift except under waiver.
Determines a level of sufficient staff based on diseases, conditions, physical function or cognitive limitations of the resident population.
Ensures the facility has sufficient staff with the appropriate competencies and skill sets to provide nursing and related services to assure resident safety.
Ensures the schedule considers the number, acuity and diagnoses of the facility resident population in accordance with the facility assessment.
Ensures the workload or assignments of the nursing staff allow for time to participate in team meetings, care plan meetings, attend training, spend time care for residents and time for breaks.
Works with the Director of Human Resources and the Director of Nursing when scheduling modified work duty employees in accordance with work restrictions and facility policies.
Completes and posts work sheets/time schedules.
Completes monthly nursing schedule coordinating requests to ensure appropriate coverage of units.
Monitors labor hours for nursing team members approaching (or currently in) overtime; avoid overtime hours unless approved by the Director of Nursing or the Administrator in accordance with facility policies.
Scheduling Coordinator Education and Experience Requirements:
Previous experience in long-term care facility is preferred
Strong communication and multi-tasking skills
Compassionate and empathetic personality
Current LPN/RN or CNA preferred
