From its manufacturing locations at Chocolate Bayou and the Battleground Manufacturing Complex, it is a merchant marketer of butadiene, ethylene, polypropylene and high-density polyethylene with annual revenue of over $4b.The Chocolate Bayou Site is located in southeastern Texas about 40 miles south of Houston and consists of two Olefins units that produce approximately 4.0bn pounds/year of ethylene, 2 Polypropylene units that produce approximately 1.0bn pounds/year of polypropylene, and the Light Ends storage & transfer facilities at Stratton Ridge.There is a need for an Environmental Engineer - Air Compliance on the corporate environmental team to support the Chocolate Bayou facility. The Environmental Engineer position is responsible for regulatory compliance at the CBW facility. The role will manage and improve the overall site air compliance programs, provide regulatory guidance, and enhance the environmental excellence culture at the site.Responsibilities include actively advising site staff to ensure compliance with air permits, completing environmental reports that are timely and accurate, supporting regulatory inspections and audits. The position involves considerable contact with the CBW Operations, Laboratory, Maintenance, Safety, and Management personnel. The position also establishes liaison with state and federal environmental regulatory agencies as well as intra-company environmental technical groups.Responsibilities And AccountabilitiesAccountability 1The position is accountable for understanding and putting into practice the INEOS 20 Principles.Champion the INEOS 20 Principles; apply them to all SHE goals and work processes.Accountability 2The position's primary responsibility is for air regulatory topics, with secondary responsibility for water and waste topics.Adopt and implement best practices to resolve any existing issues and determine new regulatory applicability.Develop and implement environmental systems for ensuring and documenting compliance with EPA and TCEQ environmental permits and regulations. Provide guidance to Operations, Maintenance, and other plant groups to implement these systems.Provide environmental guidance in turnaround and construction project planning to facilitate incorporation of environmental considerations and activities into project development and execution.Provide pre-commissioning and start-up assistance to Operations for capital projects.Participate in audits and address environmental inquiries as needed to ensure facilities comply with relevant environmental laws, regulations, and permits. Participate in action plan development.Provide innovative and cost-effective solutions to compliance issues, emerging regulations and corporate initiatives.Coordinate training of plant personnel in environmental areas in close cooperation with the Training Coordinator.Network with other INEOS sites to share best practices, enhance network operation, and determine ways to implement value-added ideas.Accountability 3RequirementsThe position is accountable for ensuring compliance with TCEQ and EPA regulatory requirements and reporting. Permit applications include NSR renewal and amendment, Title V renewal and amendment, PBR and standard permit applications.Collaborate with permit team on problems involving compliance and provide data for permitting actions.Review Operations, Maintenance, and Laboratory work processes for environmental compliance.Provide environmental engineering support to Operations and Maintenance for environmental control equipment and systems.Investigate permit excursions and submit necessary reports with applicable agency. Determine root cause and recommend corrective action.Skills & Knowledge RequiredEducationBachelor's degree in engineering/ technical discipline.Advanced degree(s) may be considered for relevant experienceExperienceMinimum of 5+ years of in-plant experience as an environmental professional.Background in compliance and reporting for air programs in petrochemical or refinery industry.Preferred QualificationsOlefins and/or Polymers manufacturing experience is beneficial.Work experience with TCEQ/EPA air regulationsKey Skills & KnowledgeGeneral knowledge needed of chemical reaction and distillation process design to effectively demonstrate routine emissions for permit applications and upset conditions.Excellent knowledge of chemical engineering math needed to calculate mass balances, partial vapor pressures, and combustion reactions for various routine reports and demonstrations.Strong initiative to solve problems and make timely and effective decisions.Proficient use of computer applications and databases allowing position to implement or improve environmental programs.Strong technical written and oral communication skills needed to interact effectively with regulatory agencies, community and plant operations personnel and leadership.Strong interpersonal skills needed for teambuilding and networking to influence others.Self-directed and self-motivated team player.How to ApplyPlease obtain line manager approval before applying for this position.Interested candidates should submit their resume and last two performance appraisals to by close of business, December 16, 2025.Our culture is one of honesty and integrity with an emphasis on safety, health and environmental performance.
