US Features Writer

The US Daily Mail is seeking experienced and dynamic writers to join the growing Opinion / Features desk in our New York City office. This role requires journalists who are buzzing with great story ideas on a daily basis and who have ability to shape provocative, engaging, and agenda-setting features that resonate with our broad readership.Key Responsibilities:Writing compelling longform features (generally 1,200 words+), primarily aimed at our Mail Plus subscribers, with an emphasis on human interest content across showbusiness, politics, celebrity, crime, health and other topicsRegularly pitching exclusive ideas for features, investigations and interviewsIdentifying trends and subject matters of interest to our loyal readershipWorking with photo editors to source images to illustrate articlesBuilding stories in the content management systemQualificationsAt least 3-5 years working as a feature writer at a newspaper, news website, magazine or television news show.A clear understanding of theDailyMail.combrand, editorial voice and audience.Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for argument, structure, tone, and narrative.Strong news judgment and familiarity with a wide range of political and cultural viewpoints.An ability and willingness to create engaging content across multiple platforms, using a variety of digital media tools and techniques, including recording video and audio.Engaging with viewers, readers and listeners on our platforms and through social mediaAdhering to ethical journalism standards and regulationsAbility to juggle multiple deadlines under pressure.A flair for headlines and a sharp sense of what gets people talking.Can adapt to evolving priorities with a self-driven, entrepreneurial mindset and a commitment to results and collaboration.Comfortable working with analytics tools and audience data to guide editorial decisions.These are in-office positions, based in New York City and, when not travelling on stories, will require attendance in the office five days a week.Salary range - $90,000-$140,000 DOEBenefits: Healthcare, dental, optical, life insurance and 401KPlease include a short cover letter explaining why you believe you'd be successful in this role and three published pieces that demonstrate your range as a feature writer.Registered in England and Wales.
