Director of Finance
Position Summary:Fowler Brothers Farming Inc. and sister companies located in the Central Valley, California, are seeking a highly motivated and strategic Director of Finance to oversee the financial operations, accounting systems, administrative processes, and long-term financial planning of our growing agricultural business.This role is responsible for managing the company’s financial health while helping leadership make informed strategic decisions related to growth, profitability, operational efficiency, and expansion. The ideal candidate is both detail-oriented and forward-thinking - capable of overseeing day to day accounting operations while contributing to high-level business planning.This position will oversee accounting and administrative staff, including the Senior Account and office personnel, while working directly with ownership to improve systems reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and organizational performance.About Fowler Brothers Farming and sister entities: Fowler Brothers Farming Inc. is a diversified agricultural company operating throughout California with divisions focused on: Farm ManagementAlmond, Walnut, and Pistachio farmingAgricultural land developmentGeneral contractingRanching and cattle operationsAlmond processing We are a fast-growing, owner-led company focused on quality work, transparency, accountability, and long-term growth.Key Responsibilities:Financial Leadership & Strategy:Working directly with ownership on financial planning and growth strategyDevelop annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial modelsAssist in evaluating expansion opportunities, acquisitions, and capital investmentsAnalyze profitability by ranch, division, and projectProvide financial insights and recommendations to leadershipAssist with banking relationships, financing packages, and lender reportingSupport strategic planning initiatives and operation decision-making Accounting & Financial Oversight:Oversee all accounting operations and supervise accounting staffManage month-end and year-end close processesEnsure timely and accurate financial reportingReview AP, AR, payroll, cash management, and reporting functionsCoordinate with external CPAs, tax professionals, and auditorsMaintain internal controls and accounting procedures Agricultural & Operational Finance:Develop and monitor ranch and crop budgetsOversee cost accounting and job costing across divisionsTrack equipment, labor, water, and operational costsAnalyze operations efficiencies and identify cost-saving opportunitiesAssist in developing KPI dashboards and management reporting toolsImprove financial visibility across all operations Administration & Organizational Development:Help streamline administrative systems and office operationsAssist in implementing SOPs and process improvementsSupport HR, insurance, compliance , and risk management functionsAssist leadership in scaling operation infrastructure as the company growsHelp transition the company toward more efficient and paperless systemsQualifications Required:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field5+ years of accounting or finance leadership experienceStrong understanding of financial statement and accounting principlesExperience managing accounting staff and administrative processesAdvanced Excel/Google Sheets and financial reporting skillsStrong organizational and communication skillsAbility to work in a fast-pace growth-oriented environment Preferred:Experience in agriculture, construction, manufacturing, or related industriesExperience with multi-entity businessesExperience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelingCPA, CMA, MBA, or related certifications preferred but not requiredExperience with ERP/accounting systems and process implementation Ideal Candidate:Strategic yet hands - onOrganized and proactiveOperationally mindedComfortable building systems and improving processesA strong communicator and team leaderCapable of balancing day-to-day execution with long -term planningInterested in growing with a dynamic agricultural companyCompensation & Benefits:Competitive salary based on experienceHealth benefitsMatching 4% 401kPaid time offOpportunity for long-term growth and leadership with the organization Salary range: $130,000 - $170,000 DOETo Apply:Please submit:ResumeCover LetterReferencesAlong with a brief summary of your experience in financial leadership, operations, and organizational management to "hr@fowlerbrosinc.com".
