Audio/Visual Technician - Summer (Student)
POSITION SUMMARY: Assist full time audio/visual staff.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (under supervision):Provide technical support for BJU/BJU Press offices and classroomsInstall new hardware solutions (projectors, audio equipment, flat panel monitors, security cameras, etc.)Maintain and troubleshoot existing hardware; research and test new hardware/software as directedPull various cables through walls and ceilingsREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Must be enrolled as a student at Bob Jones University or Bob Jones Academy (or will be for the next semester)Must be at least 16 years of ageAptitude and willingness to learn new technologies and follow direction from supervisorAbility to sometimes work alone, following supervisor's directivesAbility to complete a task that may take several days or even weeksAbility to distinguish colors on wires and connectorsAbility to climb laddersNot opposed to getting dirty/sweaty on occasionWillingness to do manual labor (lifting, carrying, using tools)Limited allergies to dust and dirt (frequent work in ceiling areas)Must (occasionally) be able to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs.PREFERRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED:Driver's licenseIT experience; especially networking basics; familiar with basic operation of PC and Mac computersMicrosoft Word and ExcelAbility with basic tools (screwdrivers, pliers, power drills, hammers, etc.)Ability to put connectors on ethernet, video coax, or microphone cablesExperience with audio mixers, video cameras, monitors, or projectorsAbility to troubleshoot connections that use wifi, HDMI, or USBAbility to follow signal flow on a block diagram or schematicKnowledge of remote learning software (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.)Equal Opportunity Employer
