Intiman Theatre is hiring a Technical Director!Intiman is a 53-year-old, Tony Award-winning, community-engaged, and socially progressive theatre based in Seattle, WA. The Technical Director will work with the Scenic Designer and Director of Production to maintain high artistic and production standards while ensuring that the work is done safely, within budget and on time.Intiman is an equal opportunity employer. If you are interested in applying, We encourage you to think broadly about your background and qualifications for this role.Responsibilities:Work with individual show designers to create a viable design visionWork with the Director of Production to establish production deadlines, calendar, and budgetReview, interpret, and troubleshoot design drawings to assess budgetary and practical feasibility and to maximize the artistic impact of financial resourcesProduce labor and materials estimates, technical drawings, and other documentation as requiredAdvance the production process through the planning and implementation of show design and prepare the resources necessary for the rehearsal, tech, and run of each productionReview, interpret, and troubleshoot design drawings to assess budgetary and practical feasibility and to maximize the artistic impact of financial resourcesSupport for rehearsal, tech, and run eg: tech tables, taping ground plan in rehearsal studio with SMAttend all production meetings, tech/dress rehearsals and previews as neededPrioritize tech notes, ensuring that all finish work happens in a timely, efficient, and safe mannerServe as Lead Site Supervisor for all TTSJ - AA student internship hoursSchedule AA hours for Scene, Props, Paint, Costume Shops & Stage Crew InternshipsSchedule and coordinate IATSE stage crew during load-in, tech and run of showsShop improvements and tool maintenance and repairRequirements: BA in Technical Theatre or equivalent work experience3 or more years professional experience as a Technical DirectorWorking knowledge of IATSE agreements, with direct experience preferredAbility/willingness to work with students and interns and coordinate internship hours with the Education ManagerWorking knowledge of tools and equipment normally found in technical shopsExtensive knowledge of rigging, stage engineering, and scenic construction techniques, including carpentry and weldingClear understanding of the artistic process and excellent communication, interpersonal, diplomatic, and team leadership skillsBroad knowledge of all other areas of production, including lighting and soundAbility to manage staff in a fast-paced environment in which priorities can change rapidly while facilitating efficient problem solving, creative thinking, and a spirit of collaborationAbility to engineer and safely implement all scenery and effectsHigh level of experience with Vectorworks and other CAD drafting programsValid driver’s licenseOpen, honest communicationAnticipate/Identify issues before they become problemsPositive attitudeBring values of collaboration, agility, risk taking, integrity, perspective, spirit and passion, allowing for a supportive and trusting environment that fosters confidence and imaginationClassification: Technical Director is a Seasonal Employee at 40/hr per week, Non-exempt position.Compensation: Compensation for this position $28-$32/hour based on experience, plus overtime after 40hr/week, 22.5 week season (non-contiguous, specifics available upon request), and includes paid holidays.To apply: Candidates should submit a cover letter; résumé; contact information for three references to jobs@intiman.org.
