Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA)Location: Steger Primary Center, Steger Intermediate Center, Columbia Central SchoolSupervisor: Occupational Therapist and Director of Student ServicesFLSA Status: ExemptUnion/Non-Union: Non-UnionSalary Range: $50,000-$60,000Job Summary: To help students improve basic motor functions, along with cognitive and emotional abilities, and to help them compensate for loss of function which will lead students to experience independent, productive and satisfying lives.Essential FunctionsComplete observations to determine student's need for further assessment of skills.Complete observations to provide both regular education and special education teachers with activity ideas, adaptations and/or accommodations within their classrooms to address student delays/difficulties.Assist in writing goals and minute recommendations based on student areas of weakness.Treat students based on their deficit areas.Complete daily documentation of student activities, progress, and behavior.Complete quarterly progress documentation.Provide consultation services to teaching staff.Provide adaptive equipment.Collaborate with teachers and co-workers to establish a schedule based on student's IEP minutes.Maintain monthly service logs.Develop fire evacuation plans for students with physical disabilities.Communicate with parents on a regular basis.Communicate with team members on a continual basis to monitor student progress.Assist in completing student Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans.Assist in recommendations for student programming.Participate in Response To Intervention meetings and student interventions upon request.Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned.Additional ResponsibilitiesAdditional tasks as assigned.Physical ActivityThe role requires frequent walking and standing.Work EnvironmentThe work environment is generally stable, with minimal exposure to unusual temperatures, noise, or hazards. The position requires extended and non-traditional hours to fulfill job duties, as well as participation in organization-sponsored events and meetings.QualificationsCurrent and valid OTA certificationPrior experience in a school setting preferredExperience assessing and selecting assistive technology in a school settingExperience in IDEA policy and proceduresLicenses/CredentialProfessional Licensure as required by ISBETerms of Employment9 month position. Begins July 1.Evaluation: The performance of this role is evaluated according to the Board's policy on evaluating professional personnel.
