JOB SUMMARYAs the Certified Nursing Assistant, this position is responsible for providing outstanding patient care and physical and emotional support for patients on a daily basis.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS• Promotes the mission, vision, and values of Weston County Health Services (WCHS).• Answers resident calls promptly and determines the best course of action to support them.• Provides physical support for residents with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, getting in and out of bed, toileting, walking, standing, or exercising.• Turning and repositioning bedridden residents as required.• Ensuring residents receive appropriate diet by reviewing dietary restrictions, food allergies, and preferences.• Obtaining a wide range of information regarding resident condition, treatment plans, and suggested activities as needed.• Measures and records food and liquid intake and urinary and fecal output and reporting changes to medical or nursing staff.• Records vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate as requested.• Examines residents to detect issues requiring medical care, including open wounds, bruises, or blood in urine.• Reminds residents to take medication and nutritional supplements as required.• Notes observations of resident behavior, including complaints or physical symptoms to nurses.• Coordinates with medical staff and other departments to ensure efficiency.• Attends and participates in staff meetings and other assigned meetings.• Adheres to accreditation and compliance standard guidelines.• Assists in completing required reports, program reviews and preparation.• Utilizes good communication skills to maintain positive relationships with clients, providers, co-workers and other sections in the organization and with other facilities in the community.• Maintains a professional, organized and clean working environment by following organizational policies, guidelines, and safety standards.• Completes Work Assignments in a timely manner.• Assists visitors with directions whenever requested.• Always introduces self to patients, residents, families, and visitors when appropriate.• Reports safety hazards as appropriate.• Replenishes supplies as needed.• Follows all infection control practices including hand washing techniques, Standard Precautions and Isolation Precautions.• Maintains set quality standards when performing job duties.• Has the ability to do work on his/her own with normal supervision.• Observes safety-precautions.• Has the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.• Has the ability to read and understand equipment operation manual.• Cooperates with other personnel to achieve departmental objectives, maintain good employee relations, and interdepartmental objectives.• Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, trainings, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops; shows responsibility for own professional practice and ongoing education and learning.NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS• Performs other duties as assigned.PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS• Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.• Completes annual education requirements• Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.• Reports to work on time and as scheduled.• Wears identification while on duty.• Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal, and local regulations.• Represents WCHS in a positive and professional manner at all times.• Complies with all WCHS policies and standards regarding ethical business practices.• Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of WCHS.• Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.• Attends regular staff meetings and in-services.• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.• Has the ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.• Has the ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.• Has, and continues to gain, thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.QUALIFICATIONS• Wyoming State Certified Nursing Assistant• Current Home Health Certification• High School Diploma or equivalent• Exceptional knowledge of medical terminology and processes.• Has and maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.• Strong written and oral communication skillsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills• Has the ability to determine an appropriate course of action in more complex situations.• Has the ability to work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude.• Has the ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work.• Has the ability to maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, and legal information.• Has the ability to complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner.• Has the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.• Has the ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians, or others in a professional manner.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS• Occasional after-hours calls may occur.• Must be able to access, find, and navigate each department at WCHS.• Positions requires light to moderate work with 50 pounds maximum weight to lift and carry.
