Maintenance Technician III
Position Objective: Responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of facility machinery. Maintain the plant equipment to optimize production.Key Responsibilities:Maintain spare parts inventory - determine and manage stocking levelsOrder parts as needed from local vendors and cataloguesChange bearings, belts and idler pulleys on trough-style conveyorsClean and change pneumatic valves on optical sorting machines, and maintain work areaCommunicate equipment issues with mechanics and supervisors from other shiftsMaintain and secure work toolsCreate sorting computer software/parameter backupsGeneral PM and repairs of bucket elevators & screw conveyor, forklifts, front end loaders and sweepersInstall facility machineryBack-up for maintenance techniciansPerform basic electrical troubleshooting and repairsPerform checks and basic maintenance on Non-Ferrous Metal DetectorComplete daily maintenance and repair logs, and maintain preventive maintenance program (PM) for mechanical and electrical equipmentProvide on-the-job training to new employeesRigging of motors, conveyor pulleys, and other heavy componentsWeld and fabricate, patch holes in steel chutes and transitionsProblem solving and project managementTeam player, able to lead and contribute to a team effortTroubleshoot sorting computer (Windows based platform)Other duties as assignedSkillsAdvanced mechanical and electrical maintenanceGood communicationsProficient computer MS Office, Excel, a plusWelding and fabricationMust be bilingual - English and Spanish.KnowledgeAbility to communicate in English and Spanish language, a must in some locationsLean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiativesElectronic experience, a plusExperience with mechanical conveyorsGlass processing knowledge, a plusStrong experience with mechanical conveyorsMust have computer skills, including hardware and software communication and installation.Must have electrical knowledge - Troubleshoot and fix electrical problems.PLC experience, a plusWorking conditionsMust be able to perform above listed duties.Will be exposed to dusty and noisy conditions periodically.A mixture of light, moderate and heavy physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a productive/technical nature.Physical requirements:Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. 50% bend, stoop, twist, reach, and climb steps. Up to 75% walking or standing required. Employee is regularly required to use hands to handle tools, machinery equipment, welding equipment, and large and small mechanical parts, regular fine hand manipulation, and may be required to write and type on a computer keyboard.
