This role combines technical implementation with strategic planning, educational partnership, and change management to build AI literacy, develop institutional AI strategy, and deploy responsible AI solutions that support the College's mission. The position involves building proofs-of-concept, facilitating faculty and staff AI adoption, establishing ethical AI guidelines, and positioning LMC as a leader in community college AI innovation. While Lake Michigan College values nontraditional learning paths and emerging AI talent, this role requires a candidate who can operate with a high degree of independence. Candidates should bring a combination of technical experience and demonstrated ability to design and implement AI solutions in real-world environments. Whether you're looking to start your college journey, enhance your skills, or explore new career paths, Lake Michigan College provides the resources and support needed to succeed.Essential Functions:AI Strategy and Planning (25%)o Assist in developing and maintaining an AI roadmap aligned with College strategic goals and institutional priorities.o Assist in development of institutional AI ethics guidelines, responsible use policies, and governance frameworks.o Serve as an advisor to the College on AI capabilities, limitations, opportunities, and emerging technologies.o Participate in institutional planning related to AI adoption and digital transformation.o Monitor the AI landscape and recommend emerging technologies for College consideration.o Assist in establishing success metrics and evaluation frameworks for AI initiatives.* Technical Implementation and Development (30%)o Design, develop, and deploy AI prototypes and proofs-of-concept using cloud services, APIs, SaaS platforms, and open-source tools.o Create reusable AI frameworks and components to support scalability and reduce duplication of effort.o Build and maintain AI integrations with College systems, including LMS, CRM, ERP, and productivity platforms.o Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and optimization of AI models, automation, and applications.o Ensure all AI solutions comply with ethical, legal, and data-security standards (FERPA, accessibility, institutional policy).o Collaborate with teams to operationalize successful pilots and maintain handoff processes for production support.o Create and maintain technical documentation for AI tools, workflows, integration processes, and development standards.o Stay current on AI application patterns, platform solutions, APIs, and frameworks.* Educational Partnership and Faculty Support (25%)o Partner with faculty to identify high-impact AI use cases and pilot AI-enhanced learning experiences.o Collaborate with instructional designers and Teaching Learning and Distance Education (TLDE) to develop AI literacy resources for students and faculty.o Provide guidance on responsible AI use in academic settings, including academic integrity, bias mitigation, and ethical considerations.o Support faculty in evaluating and integrating AI tools for teaching, learning, and assessment.o Facilitate workshops, demonstrations, training sessions, and professional development opportunities on AI topics.o Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of AI-powered learning experiences to ensure measurable improvement in student outcomes.o Foster a culture of exploration, experimentation, and responsible innovation with AI technologies.* Collaboration, Communication, and Change Management (15%)o Build relationships with campus stakeholders across academic affairs, student services, and administrative departments.o Translate complex AI concepts for non-technical audiences including faculty, staff, administrators, and students.o Participate in relevant committees to ensure AI initiatives align with institutional priorities.o Champion management efforts to support organizational adoption of AI tools and practices.o Communicate AI developments, opportunities, and best practices to the campus community.o Provide consultation and user support for AI-related questions and challenges.* Professional Development and Network Building (5%)o Participate in higher education AI communities (e.g., Internet2 AI Innovation Accelerator, EDUCAUSE AI initiatives) to stay current and build partnerships.o Build relationships with peer institutions to share best practices, lessons learned, and collaborative opportunities.o Engage with the higher education AI community to establish helpful connections and bring external insights back to campus.o Attend relevant conferences, training, and professional development to maintain cutting-edge knowledge.o Experiment with emerging AI tools, platforms, and techniques to inform institutional strategy.Other Duties:Provide training to staff and faculty on AI tools, best practices, and responsible use guidelines.Support accessibility initiatives by ensuring AI solutions comply with ADA and WCAG standards.Contribute to data-driven decision-making by developing AI-powered analytics and reporting capabilities.Assist with data governance efforts, including model transparency, monitoring, and audit processes.Support cybersecurity initiatives by evaluating AI-related risks and implementing safeguards.Perform other duties as assigned to support the College's AI enablement mission.Job Specifications:* Associate's degree in computer science, Data Science, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent experience required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.Required:3-5+ years of experience in IT, software development, data, or related technical roles2-3 years hands on Experience with AI/ML models, APIs, prompt engineering, and automation platforms.2-3 years hands on experience deploying AI solutions in higher education or public-sector environments.2-3 years hands on experience with cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud).2-3 years hands on experience integrating systems via REST APIs or middleware tools.Knowledge of data visualization and analytics tools.2-3 years hands on experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems.Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, JavaScript).Demonstrated knowledge of data security, privacy frameworks, and responsible AI practices.Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Hiring Range: $63,190 - $75,892 Special Instructions to Applicants:Be a part of the Red Hawk family and apply today!
