Administrative Assistant/Truancy Support PositionPosition SummaryThe Administrative Assistant / Truancy Support position is a full-time, dual-role position within an alternative school setting. This individual provides comprehensive administrative support while also leading attendance monitoring and truancy intervention efforts. The ideal candidate is highly organized, technologically proficient, and knowledgeable in school systems, data management, and student support processes. This role is critical in ensuring efficient school operations and improving student attendance and engagement.QualificationsHigh school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferredPrevious experience in a school setting, preferably knowledgeable of truancy interventionsStrong understanding of school systems, processes, and compliance requirementsProficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Forms, Slides, Drive)Experience with Student Information Systems (TeacherEase), preferred not requiredExcellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skillsAbility to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all timesExperience working with at-risk youth and trauma-informed environments, preferredPerformance ResponsibilitiesAdministrative SupportProvide daily administrative support to school leadership and staffManage front office operations, including answering phones, greeting visitors, checking in students, and handling inquiriesCoordinate scheduling, calendars, and meetingsPrepare professional correspondence, reports, and presentations using Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms)Support student enrollment, registration, and records managementEnsure compliance with school policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirementsAssist with Breakfast and Lunch proceduresTechnology & Data ManagementUtilize Google Workspace to develop and maintain systems for organization, tracking, and reportingMaintain digital filing systems and databases with a high level of accuracySupport staff with basic technology needs and digital workflow processesEnter, monitor, and audit student data related to attendance, behavior, and academicsEnsure data integrity across all school platforms and reporting systemsTruancy & Attendance ResponsibilitiesBuild positive, supportive relationships with students and families to encourage consistent attendanceMonitor and track daily student attendance, identifying trends in chronic absenteeismInitiate and maintain consistent communication with families regarding attendance concerns (calls, emails, letters)Collaborate with school administration, home districts, and support staff to address attendance barriersDevelop and support the implementation of attendance improvement and intervention plansCoordinate and participate in truancy meetings, re-engagement conferences, and family outreach efforts, and attend truancy review board as neededDocument all attendance interventions and maintain detailed records for complianceSupport adherence to state truancy laws, district policies, and reporting timelinesSkills & CompetenciesStrong attention to detail and data accuracyAbility to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environmentEffective communication and relationship-building skillsProblem-solving and critical thinking abilitiesCultural competency and commitment to equity and restorative practicesAbility to work both independently and as part of a collaborative teamWork ScheduleFull-time position aligned with the school calendarOccasional flexibility required for meetings, family engagement, or attendance interventionsWork EnvironmentAlternative school setting serving diverse and at-risk student populationsTrauma-informed, restorative practices-based approachCollaborative, student-centered team environmentCompensation$30,000 - 36,000 Depending on experienceBenefits: I-KAN Employee Handbook
