Student Retention Coach

The Student Retention Coach works directly with students to identify and remove obstacles that prevent class attendance and successful program completion. This role focuses on building relationships with students, providing personalized support, and implementing intervention strategies to promote student persistence and graduation. The individual in this role works closely with Student Services and Education personnel to ensure positive student outcomes.ResponsibilitiesStudent Retention & PersistenceDevelop and implement retention strategies for at-risk studentsProvide early intervention support during initial enrollment periodConduct regular check-ins with students to identify potential barriersCreate individualized success plans for struggling studentsMonitor student progress and intervene when issues ariseTrack retention metrics and outcomesStudent Re-entry SupportAdvise students considering withdrawal about alternativesCoordinate re-entry process for returning studentsAssess readiness and develop re-entry success plansProvide ongoing support during transition back to classesCoordinate and implement successful re-entry campaignsAcademic Advising & Tutoring CoordinationProvide academic advising and course planning guidanceCoordinate tutoring services and academic support resourcesConnect students with appropriate learning assistanceMonitor academic progress and recommend interventionsDocumentation & CommunicationMaintain detailed records of student interactions and interventionsCommunicate student needs and concerns to appropriate staffPrepare reports on retention activities and outcomesReporting and DataUse internal Academic reports to manage attendance, drops, failures, and persistenceIdentify trends in data where improvement is necessaryWork with Academic Dean to develop and execute improvement plansRequirementsStrong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer driven mindsetAbility to build rapport with diverse student populations by interacting daily in person including pulling them from classroomsProblem-solving and crisis intervention skillsEmpathetic and patient approach to student supportAssociate's degree required or 2 years related experience Experience in student services, counseling, or related fieldKnowledge of student development and retention best practicesAbout UsFor 80 years Lincoln Tech has been one of the nation's leading providers of career training in Healthcare, Automotive/Diesel, Skilled Trades, Information Technology.
