**MFT PLATFORM ENGINEER - GLOBUS****Location:** Remote, U.S.-Based**Duration:** 6-12 Months, Possible Extension**Schedule:** Full-Time, 40 Hours/Week**Work Hours:** Availability during Central Time core hours### ROLE OVERVIEW* Support the implementation, operationalization, configuration, and administration of a **Globus Managed File Transfer (MFT) platform** supporting secure, high-volume research data movement.* Complete the **Globus Connect Server (GCS) v5** deployment, onboard users, establish operational processes, and provide technical support.* Work across **GCP, Linux, networking, security, and large-scale data transfer** environments.### KEY RESPONSIBILITIES* Configure, harden, and maintain **Globus Connect Server v5** on GCP Compute Engine.* Configure **Globus Collections, Storage Gateways, S3 Storage Connectors, endpoints, DNS, and authentication**.* Validate secure, high-throughput **TB-to-PB data transfer** workflows.* Troubleshoot transfer failures, stalled transfers, permissions, connectivity, and performance issues.* Optimize **GridFTP concurrency, parallelism, and transfer performance**.* Manage Linux VMs, services, patches, upgrades, logs, monitoring, and disaster recovery.* Implement **RBAC, access controls, audit logging, data governance, and security controls**.* Develop runbooks, SOPs, troubleshooting guides, architecture documentation, and operational playbooks.* Support **Globus Flows, automation, and future AI-driven MFT operations**.* Collaborate with infrastructure, architecture, security, and research teams and provide knowledge transfer.### REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS* **3+ years of hands-on Globus experience**, including **Globus Connect Server v5** deployment, configuration, and administration.* Strong experience with **Globus endpoints, Managed/Guest Collections, Storage Gateways, S3/POSIX connectors, and Globus Web App**.* Experience with **GridFTP**, parallel transfers, concurrency, and performance optimization.* Experience with **Globus Auth, OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect**, and identity provider configuration.* Experience with **Globus Flows, Globus CLI, and Globus Python SDK**.* Hands-on **GCP Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, IAM, service accounts, VPC, DNS, and firewall** experience.* Strong **Linux administration**, Bash/shell scripting, system monitoring, and troubleshooting.* Understanding of **TCP/IP, HTTPS, DNS, networking, DMZ, and Zero-Trust security**.* Experience with **Managed File Transfer and large-scale data movement**.* Experience supporting **terabyte- to petabyte-scale transfers** in research, academic, healthcare, or similar environments.### EDUCATION* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, **OR*** Associate's degree in Computer Science or Engineering with 2 years of relevant experience.### PREFERRED* Healthcare or regulated-environment experience.* HIPAA/NIST knowledge.* Signiant or Cleo experience.* Terraform/IaC, Azure DevOps, SailPoint, Entra ID, HPC, or monitoring/observability experience.
