Two years of experience in meter reading, working service orders, executing collection notices and dispatching service orders, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge of the county and map reading abilities. Ability to walk carefully over uneven terrain, bend, stoop, climb steps and use curb key to turn on and off meter valves. Ability to accurately read meters and remember figures. Good oral and written communication for both internal and external customers. Utilize planning and time management skills to assist team members in accomplishing daily work in a timely manner. Excellent problem-solving skills. Ability to remain calm while focusing on a resolution to customer issues. Ability to operate and maintain electronic equipment preferred. Ability to walk to location of meters, lifting heavy objects, bending, stooping, accurately read meter dials; and to work in adverse weather conditions required. Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.
